Hammer will never be offensive minded..ever. The guy will have good seasons offensively if he manages to score 5 goals average. That's fine no one should ever expect more from him offensively.



I struggle thinking what player out there would help us on the blueline. Gleason would I am sure.



To be honest, and I hate saying this, it's not only blueliners that have been an issue. Crawford has to play better than he has as a whole. I think if you get a little bit more out of Crawford the goals against stats wouldn't be so bad. We would probably be hovering around the middle of the pack (which is acceptable when you have the offensive numbers we have).



So it's not just the blueline. Craw has to take some of the heat also. Sophmore slumping a little he is.

Carolina Hurricanes



The general manager of the Carolina Hurricanes appears fairly optimistic about his chances of dealing a certain veteran defenseman this season.

As reported by Elliotte Friedman of the CBC, Jim Rutherford seems confident he will be able to trade Tomas Kaberle "in a month or two as long as the defenceman starts playing better". Fortunately for the Hurricanes, it's not like the experienced blueliner can play that much worse.

Rutherford has confirmed he's talking to other teams about potential deals at present. Along with forward Tuomo Ruutu, Kaberle is considered a top candidate for trade -- if another squad can be convinced to take on the lion's share of his thre-year, $12.75 million contract. Defensemen Tim Gleason and Bryan Allen could also attract some attention around the league.

Give me Gleason and Ruttu and we can win the cup again. 2 players that would fit in well here and fill a couple holes. We need a LW like Ruttu something bad.

And the Canes as a whole suck. So Although Kaberle hasn't been playing great and has underperformed he has no one to really work with in Carolina. I don't want the guy here at all at the price tag but to put all the blame on Kaberle for the Canes woas is crazy. Their star player is what -11 and forgot how to score? Kaberle can still play but if you put top 2 blueliner labels on him then that's a badly ran team. Canes should have known what they were getting with Kaberle esp after watching him under perform in the playoffs last year for a cup winning team. Kaberles best years are behind him he is a support offensive blueliner best suited for the #4 spot tops and for powerplay minutes (and not even sure if he can do that well anymore).

Gleason is a nice idea. The rest dont enthuse me but hey we almost have enough space for soupy. Can we just bring him back and tell Q to STFU and not try to coach soupy. He does just fine when soupu does what soupy does

Even if Kaberle were here at almost twice less, Q wouldn't coach him right. Just look at what he's doing as it is with the wrong kind of coach.

Kaberle does not excite me in the least.

If Kaberle were in his prime, I'd be a tad more excited. I find it funny that after he leaves, the Leafs are good again.
