And my 'defense if the organization'?

It just gets old for 3yrs now reading the same crap. If the players falter, it's ALWAYS the coach/front office. Never because the players fail or underachieve. Somewhere along the way, the players have to have a tiny little but if responsibility. Just a little, but I guess that's sacrilegious here

I guess I'm a not a hockey mind that needs to apply

I dont think anything was said about blaming players rather than calling out the management for clear conflict. This front office is a fucking mess. Whether players showed up in the playoffs or not.

then again assistant head coaches are always added to to a team three weeks before the end of the season by the GM. Wait, he wasn't an assistant, or was he. I think I read twice where Smith and Q actually got into an argument which is why Smith stopped traveling with the team.

Blind squrrel finds a nut every once in awhile I suppose.

The Mayers signing is a bit of a head scratcher to me. Counting the players now under contract - 19, 88, 10, 81, 36, 25, 29, 67, 13, 22, 16, 65, 2, 7, 4, 8, 5, 50, 30. That's 12 forwords, 5 d-men and 2 goalies, totaling 19 players. That doesn't include Hayes, Saad and Olsen who all have a fairly good chance at making the team. Nor does it include Olesz who is costing Rocky $3.1M to play in Rockford.

I like Mayers and he was one of the best at being "predictable" - one of Q's favorite characteristics in a player. But it limits roster flexibility which seems counter to what Stan needs to improve the team.

If I was in the front office...I'd be frustrated at,

Keith's 'not feeling it' after giving him a boatload of money

Kane's off ice bad drunk publicity again

Sharp's invisibility in the playoffs

Bickell's first 70gms this year

Frolik getting a raise...then his season

Crawfords inconsistent year

Hjarllmarsson signing that offer sheet, and mailing it in

Spot.Fucking.On.

I'd love to see a guy like Matt Carle or Dennis Wideman if we are looking to fill that Campbell void, a guy who can eat minutes and contribute offensively, push the pace, good puck movement... Brad Stuart would be a smart choice IMO if they want that solid shut-down defenseman who can play with Leddy (who they probably expect to elevate his play to that of the Carle/Wideman type).

Dennis Wideman=No. He alternates between good and shit years. Carlson and Alzner always played against the opponents top lines and at the end of close games while Wideman took his place, rightfully so, on the bench.

If Junior signs him, that's two defensive liabilities on the right side. Might as well up Seabrook to 35 minutes a game.

Carle's not much better defensively.

Yea I'm fucking clueless alright.

And with the looming lock out, Cap may very well go down too. The NHL is positioning itself for no hockey. Not sure if you noticed or not.

It's the same speculation that goes on that Haviland is a great hockey mind on the bench/in meetings here...and no one knows that without sitting in the meeting rooms

Are you sure th cap will decrease? Are you in the negotiations? Oh wait, they have started yet.

Based on some posters, people can't comment here unless they're privy to disussions/negotiations. But then again the possibility exists for a two for one trade.

For **** sakes. This is a message board. If posters can't hypothisize, close the whole IHN board down. Or go to the O Boards and float a Green/Phanuef for Keith trade.

I think if you had read the entire post, you would have noticed Wideman and Carle were mentioned as Campbell replacements, not shut down dmen. (Hence Stuart was mentioned next as a shut down dman.)

I like the signing: It's cheap and hopefully he can provide some needed bottom-6 mentorship. Hopefully he gets some time to work with Beach in the agitator role.

Plus, I think it could mean that there may be some roster moves to make space for some of the younger guys. The only fly in the ointment is that it's Stan making these moves...and I know we all got warm and tingly feelings about him aquiring our saviour at center last year...Morrison

Exactly. It all depends on if they think Leddy will elevate his play to that level (which I believe they do), so if thats the case I'd rather get a physical shut-down defenseman. Too bad that won't happen as we just signed another small shot blocking figure skater.

Fair is fair...more than half of the team didn't play in the playoffs.
