I can't do the cool stuff that Al can with his fancy GDT, but I'll try to copy and past here.

STREAKING

arrow_streak.jpg

nhl_g_hayes_gb1_110.jpg

1. Jimmy Hayes, Forward: Since being called up on Dec. 29, Hayes has been a force on the ice in limited minutes. He scored key goals in back-to-back games against Edmonton and Philadelphia though the Hawks went on to lose both. But it didn’t diminish his effectiveness. He has 12 shots on net in five games -- not bad for a guy that’s only played double digit minutes in two of them and most of the time it’s been from the fourth line. He’s simply been noticeable in a positive way, especially with the puck. A positive start to his career.

2. Brent Seabrook, Defense: On a slumping team it's hard to find many streakers, but Seabrook scored key goals in two of the past five games. He helped beat the Red Wings with a blast from the middle of the ice on Dec. 30 then tallied a third-period score against Philadelphia before the Hawks gave the game back late. He’s been a minus player just once in his last 13 games and that’s with knowing the Hawks have dropped four in a row. If Seabrook could get his shot off even more he could find himself in the streaking category more often. It's that good.

SLUMPING

arrow_slump.jpg

chi_u_pkanets_110.jpg

1. Patrick Kane, Forward: It’s been well documented Kane has just three goals in his past 23 games. He does have 13 assists in that same span and some helped win games, but it's not enough. He’s been a minus player in four of the past seven games and hasn’t had a “plus” next to his name in the box score since Dec. 21. Not scoring and giving up goals on the other end is a recipe for a slump and Kane is in one.

2. Viktor Stalberg, Forward: His slump has been overshadowed by some bigger names (see above) but it's been quiet on the offensive end for Stalberg since before the New Year. He’s gone six straight games without a point though he has been getting shots on net. His issue once again is finishing. He might be better suited on the third or fourth line where he can blow by third defensive pairs, but Stalberg is back with Jonathan Toews and Kane so the chances will come again. He just needs to complete them. Easier said than done for No. 25.

I like the hot and cold write ups.

That shows exactly why I am concerned for this game and don't care who the opponent is. Kanes slump and Stalbergs slump is a concern to me. Stalbergs wouldn't be as big of a concern if it wasn't for our legit lwer going down with a broken hand/wrist. Stalberg now has to start finishing his chances. Kane needs to get out of this slump. If they don't then it's a continued losing streak. Our blueline just can't keep pucks away from our net these days very well and if we aren't going to get better scoring it's going to be a very long January.

something needs to give tonight.

LOL I said immediately after Montador being a Special person fight "that's going to be 4 minutes" and 5 minutes after the penalties were handed out Eddie still doesn't know why.

You can't instigate with a visor... it's an automatic extra 2 minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Good call by the refs on a dumbass rule.

Glad the Hawks won obviously but they still need to clean up there game. Defensively we gave up 32 shots to the worst team in the league, I'd like to see that number go down which brings me to my second point. Can are defensemen please do a better job in front of our god damn net. I swear every goal we've given up over the last two weeks with the exception of that Eager backhand vs. Edmonton has been a scramble in front of the net. Not saying were gonna win all those battles but we need to do a better job in that department.

Hayes continues to impress me, he keeps it up, I don't see him going back to Rockford. Thought O'Donnell actually played a pretty good game tonight, guess even a blind squirrell finds a nut every once in a while. Finally Stalberg needs to find a way to play like he does against Columbus more often

nice win against a real shitty team but this club needed anything it could get to break some slumps. Stalberg broke his.

Leddy has become god awful down low infront of the net. Another -2 night for him. He is killing my fantasy team!!! Kanes not helping in that department either. UGH!!!

Stalberg now has more goals than Kane on less shot attempts and a better shooting percentage. Anyone still care to say Stalberg can't hit the target? WHAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH KANEBERG????? It's driving me crazy!!! Thank god he still leads the team in assists (well tied with Hossa). Saw Kaner fight the puck again a few times tonight. Bad shot selections. Easy for me to say that but sometimes it frustrating watching a player you enjoy struggle and fight shots. Nice assist he had though. And yes I know Kane is a set up man and not a goal scorers goal scorer. I was just hoping for a career high in goals this season. Doesn't look like that will happen at this point.

Hossa also with a perfect feathered pass to Bolland on the shorty. That was proof of what Bolly can do when he has a playmaking wing man.

Kane LW on the PP? Let's not start that shit again Q. PP is struggling as is.

A much needed win, too bad they still couldn't do shit on the PP. A shortie is alright however. And LOL that 7 of Stålberg's 12 goals have come against the Jackets. Can someone hypnotize him to think that all teams he faces are Blue Jackets?

I understand the extra 2 mins. for instigating with a visor, but why the 10 on top of that?

It comes with it.... in the rulebook.

I don't agree with the dumb rule but it was applied correctly last night. Montador should have known better... the hit wasn't even close to dirty.

The worst part of those fights is that Boll got nothing for leaving his feet or leading with his stick at chin level.

That had me FUMING last night.

I guess the league would rather have douches like Boll running guys like that then have "instigators" in hockey.

Me as well. The anti-Blackhawk ref bias conspiracy theories are swirling away in my noggin either that or they just suck ass.

Go read the article I posted in general hockey discussion. It was Brian Burke talking about the instigating rule and basically how that is more dangerous than fighting.

It should be reviewed by Shanaban. Doesn't make a difference if a penalty was called or not.

Yet Bertuzzi DOESN'T get the instigstor when he chases down Carcillo - fuckin' both Eye-talians - after Carcillo cleanly layed him out.

Watch again, the hit was high and looked like targeted to the head. I didn't look much at Boll's feet. As for Monty, yeah, he should have dropped the helmet before going after Boll but let's be honest here--if we're missing the "Pack Mentality" that was prevalent in the SC year, Monty did a good job even if instigating with the visor. Still, the fight was, as my bro calls it, a "Huggy-feely ***-fest". Total yawner.

Congrats to Stalberg on his hattie! Great job for the kid. Now, I have a challenge for him--bring it against other teams. The majority of his goals are against Columbus.

Bolland+Hossa was a thing of beauty.

Smith looked good and great job for the kid to step it up on a wicked backhand.

I hope there's no lingering effects for Toews...a puck off of the temple and then his skull going stright into the goalpost...ouch!

Good win all around. Again, we know the D is going to be weak so the offence cannot affort to do anything but attack, attack, attack from hereon out.
