A classic Blackhawks/Canucks brawl ensued, but a hockey game broke out in the 3rd period where Chicago prevailed in a 2-1 OT victory on Wednesday night.
Johnny Oduya ripped a shot mid-way through overtime that deflected off Andrew Shaw to seal the game-winning goal.
It all started with Janik Hansen using Johnny Oduya as a turnstyle and popping the first goal of the game on the first shot past Corey Crawford -- but Corey was perfect for the rest of the game by making the remaining 23 saves, many of them on deflected opportunities.
The classic spark between both teams ignited another fire with Alex Burrows pulling Duncan Keith's hair for the 2nd time in his career. Burrows, Kassian, and Keith all received misconducts on the play. Unfortunately the Blackhawks could not find any success on the power-play despite getting 5 power-play opportunities including some time on a two-man advantage.
Patrick Kane finally roofed the puck past Roberto Luongo and scored on the Hawks first shot that was placed top shelf.
The rest is history, the game was electric from puck drop and the end was only fitting with Andrew Shaw deflecting the winner in a grinders game.
This game marks the Blackhawks 5th straight win, but stay tuned. Duncan Keith may face disciplinary action for his retaliation on Daniel Sedin.
