So...don't compare Hossa or any other player's "blown chances" to Stalberg. He's the only person that every has them.

Ton is spot on - its better to create them, than not.

There's quite a few chances he creates for his line with his speed/forecheck that at times "don't show up" on a scoresheet either.

If the only reason stalbergs goals total are inflated is because he has 4 against the bluejackets then we better trade toews and kane for not scoring 2 per game against them.

The argument about what teams the goals come against is moot.

There are "chances" and there are "gimme goals"... you know what I mean. Technically speaking every time down the ice that doesn't result in a goal is a blown chance.

But continue to argue about semantics like you love to do... I am just happy he's improving and the Hawks have the best record in the league.

I wasn't a big fan of his last year, but I can agree with that Stu. He's improving and developing into a nice player. People sometimes forget that this guy is only 25, his best years are ahead of him, not behind. Took Sharp about this long to develop too and probably wasn't until he was around 26 until he really started to "get it" and pop in the goals that he should.

Love him or hate him, Stalberg is a bargain.

I know it does not tell the whole story but it's one story and he's not a liability defensively either so IMO any bashing right now is unwarranted. And yes, can't erase the past but it does not have to define him either.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
I think though, Stalberg right now is doing what Frolik was earlier. And let's be honest, we have eough generals on the team with Toews, Kane, Sharp, and Hossa on the front end--we need reliable soldiers. Bolland plays that role well. Carcillo play(ed) that role well. Mayers plays that role well.

Stalberg seems to be molding into that role--which is good. I think he's better served like Bolland as a support scoring threat, not a main scoring threat. He is improving and although his past body of work makes anyone hesitant to swing on his nuts, right now with Bolland and Bickell (who is playing more to big-body form than a mewling pantywaist since his pressbox stint), he works.

His point value is moot. We have 4 players with beaucoup points. Let him play the support role that he seems good at.

Btw sharpton I like that little table. Its nice to see that the smaller contract guys are proving to AT LEAST as valuable as their contract dictates.

62gms - 8g - 11a - 19pts - -6 (2 of those goals were empty netters)

I'm just playing devils advocate. I'd rather have Stalberg with JT and Kane than brunette. I've said it numerous times.

Exactly, Versteeg is another guy that many people did not like for different reasons although he is proving now that his potential was huge.

I think Stalberg could be a 25 goal, 35 assists type of guy at some point. Maybe not this year, but I think we can expect at least 15-20 goals out of him this year and 25-30 assists.

Except when scored against Vancouver of course. I am sure you would agree. Those goals are all Bonerizers.

Oh those are hall of fame goals. The Hawks should rotate the C around to however scores the most goals against the Canucks in a game.
