JT blew up in St. Louis and the Hawks roared back to kick their ass.

Q is not giving players definite roals. He has them blowing all over the place.

Rosh you might have won the Cup coaching that team. That's just how deep they were.

I dunno maybe JT needs to threaten to run them over or some shit

Anybody could have coached the cup team. That team was so ungodly stacked it aint funny. Coaching would have been "Hey Johnny what do you want them to do? *nod nod* "Okay boys do what he says while I sit here in a suit and look important"

Exactly people. Ask yourselves do you really believe Q could get the results that say Trotz gets year in and year out in NSH working with almost nothing and with an internal cap limit? Or the results Tippett gets now? Or could he have gotten the results that Blysma did with last years Penguins or this years Penguins in the face of just devetating injuries to absolute team STUDS and franchise players? I don't. I think all his history shows is that if you give him a stacked or mega-stacked roster AND that roster stays generally healthy that he's able to coral all the youthful energy for the good but I don't think he actually would know WTF to do with a non-stacked roster or one completely decimated by injures to it's stars. That's a whole lot of caveats he has to have in place IMO in order to be successful.

My point exactly. I don't know JT personally, but he seems to have the calm swagger that, when upset, a scowl and a pointed look makes you know he's unhappy, but when he *actually* starts tearing into guys, everyone takes notice because you know you screwed the pooch.

Yea he's unhappy so what? I say thats what I would say.

Other than a 2nd line Center and maybe top four D man this teams problem is COACHING! Last night was coaching.

Goal #1 happens because Q has his head up his ass and line changes right in the middle of the Yotes bringing the puck up the ice. Q had so many line combos going last night I lost track in the 3rd period.

He has players playing out of position, and not just average players but TOP NHL/WORLD talented players. He has players benched that should be playing, IE Lepisto, and players playing that should be benched, IE Odonnell/Smith.

He didn't win a Cup in St. Louis with some VERY stacked teams. He didn't win a Cup in Colorado, as HC, with some very stacked teams. Why? We are seeing it right now.

Throw the Cup year out, even though I think most of us HERE could have coached that team, and look at the GAFFS he's making right now?

Why is Bickell playing? He refuses to play the style he needs too? Why is Smith here and healthy Scratched? Really? Why was Lepisto in the press box against his former team, yet Odonnell was playing? Why is Pirri whos on FIRE not up here Centering a line so Kane, one of the top five RW's in the game, playing fucking Wing?

It's not rocket science.

No way Q matches those feats. Those guys are simply better coaches than Q

But what can we do about the current coaching woes, other than bitching about it on a message board. If hockey fans and arm-chair coaches can see there is some problems, then surely the paid professionals are seeing the same thing, right...right

**** no, paid pros have blinders on, we are the outsiders looking in, we see it from a different perspective.

That has been my biggest criticism of him for years now. He tweaks the lineup too fucking much. Stop playing yatzee with the lineup. Let people gel into their slot, give them time to learn their teammates habits and positioning.

I understand injuries happen and that makes tweaking necessary, but he just does it to look busy sometimes.

I wholeheartedly agree with what bookjones said. Q was the right guy for the young team that eventually won the Cup, now it's time for a change. I'll think I'll jump on the bandwagon that Q is the main problem of this team. His line juggling must be annoying for the guys, especially when there doesn't seem to be any method to his madness. He seems really obsessed with linematching and at times it has worked wonders, the series against Vancouver in the Cup year comes to mind.

Hasn't there been some credence lent to this notion over the past couple of years with several former players pretty much saying---while still trying to be tactful---that it is enormously frustrating and can get you emotionally and mentally exhausted with all the changes. And I may be wrong but I thought last season or end of last season (not sure) that I read or heard somewhere that Hossa has made mention of how frustrating all the incessant changes are. If a coach does that much changing it's hockey equivalent to a "no-confidence vote" either in his own coaching or else the players IMO.

I'd love to see how the day to day workings of coach Q and his staff are. How he thinks and why he does what he does.

This team is actually reminding me of the 09 team not last year for some reason. You can see all the pieces and the flashes of it's happening, but the inconsistency is just hair pulling insane.

Sometimes i give q a pass because he has no better lw options than carcillo and stalberg as top 2 lwers. Then he has an old man like brunette as a 3rd or 4th. Not sure how many coaches are able to work with that. Not sure why sharp is playing rw sometimes either...thats q.

I do emphasise the sometimes though.

I do think bowman can take a slight bit of the heat he has made some good moves but has also left too many holes as you can see having kane centering carcillo...which i am still not sold on. And hell the players themselves can take a little heat also. Showing up like they did last night and games like calgary and edmonton cant be pinned entirely on coaching...although games like these makes one ask is the coach losing his players or are the players starting to underestimate opposition?
