I live 3 blocks from Wrigley, so I like to poke around every now and again. Got my haircut an hour ago and took a walk around Wrigley. A lot of construction going on inside, as well as a portion of the Left Field bleachers were completely covered, and the seciton behind home plate. Both covered by a white tarp. As far as inside, a lot of construction workers roaming around, but nothing very obvious as far as whats going on. ILL try and snap a few picturs later this week. :cubs:

Sounds about right for union labor.

They were milling around on the Saturday before Christmas, too. Lots of power tools could be heard. That was closer to the RF section where they are proposing to set up that video board.

Unions have outlived their usefulness, if they ever had one to begin with. But that's a debate for another day.

Actually you are.

I work with unions on a day to day basis and have for about the last 5 years. They blow. They hurt more than they help at this point.
My dad's union was a good union. :elephant:

And the grocery bagger union at Fareway is a great Union too. :troll:

I agree though, a majority of unions serve no real purpose.

For your dad most likely...which is the point.

Meh. The local union was crappy.

Long story short, the state union helped my dad get his job back, when he was fired for petty reasons.

The problem with most local unions is that the people in charge, who are more well off, try to help themselves more, instead of helping the members of the union.

How has a thread about the construction going on at Wrigley turn into a union debate? Keep that shit in a politics thread. And FWIW construction unions are different then state workers unions, or bus drivers unions. Those Unions are a monopoly where in construction the customer has the option to choose union or non. Its whoever wins the bid Union Only jobs are the only ones that have a "monopoly" but that is because that customer requires union labor.

LOL, no they really don't.

You do relaize some specs for these jobs and some conditions of the job set forth by engineers is that it must be union labor or even union made product?

The choice for union work or not is many times made for the end user well before the job is approved by bids and inspectors.

I kind of agree, I didn't post this to talk about unions. I really just wanted to keep everyone up to speed about the ongoing construction at Wrigley. Again, I will take some pictures tomorrow or thursday.
