Good stuff. 2008 all over again.
A couple guys I work with got gouged late 08 splitting a bulk purchase that cost higher than shelf value because everyone was freaking out about obama taking their guns and ammo.
They doubled down after sandy hook.

it cracks me up to see it all play out again.

TBF, they can make ALL of their money back and still have literally half of their ammo left today.

Ammo prices are insane right now. When you have chit tier 9mm selling for 60-70 cents per round that is pure madness. Those are 20 - 25 cent rounds a year ago. 22lr which was historically high when everyone thought Hillary was going to get elected ran around 8-12 cents a round and it is running 17-25 cents a round today. people are paying damn near a buck a round for AR ammo.

All of this is if you can even find it, and before shipping costs taxes etc.

According to @Grimson January 6th, the day of the storm is the perfect time to offload anything you may have.

I sold some of my 57 hoard made a killing.

Same here. Traded my SBR’d PS90 for primers and powder when I saw this madness brewing again. I had a few 1000 rounds of 195LF that sold for ~$60 a box. I think I bought it for $13/box.

Here... I have have 500 quarters...I will sell them to you for 500 dollars.

You aren't getting ripped off buying them at 4 times the going rate off of a secondary seller...quarters last forever!!

You see the problem there? You buy shit at an inflated price and hold on to it for 5 days or 5 years.....you still got ripped off.

Really?

It doesn't only go up in price. It goes up in price when people buy it all up for no reason like they aren't stamping out any more.

October 2016 22lr was around 10 cents a round. It dropped to around 3 cents a round after Trump was elected.

You can argue the machinations of that as much as you want, the fact remains that ammo prices do not only go up.

Only thing I see diff now is the pandemic riots and anti gun president elect created 7 million new gun purchases/owners(could be more that’s the last figure ive seen). Those 7 million new customers are now accustomed to paying prices ive never seen not even under obama. So where most of us see a hard pass at .70 cents 556 ammo they are buying cases. Just last feb 556 ammo was .30 cents. Highest I saw with Obama around .50 cents. It’s the noobs driving the prices way up so these could be new norms

It'll still be way cheaper than the current price at most a five to ten percent increase from the price in 2018.

It'll come down after the covid and election craziness dies off.

No chance. These "noobs" as you called them aren't going to go out shooting every weekend. This is very temporary. There may be continued stocking up, but all the new buyers aren't trying to stash thousands of rounds of ammo.

Biden will probably have a senate stacked against him which will curtail any new major gun or ammo legislation.

I think that prices might rise through the inauguration but buying will trickle off afterwards and prices will follow.

They will remain elevated over what we saw during the Trump presidency, but that is to be expected.

I took advantage of it to dump a bunch of crap I don’t want anymore and at a profit. I was surprised at how much people were willing to pay for some of this stuff

When I was an MP in 1970, they were issuing us .45 cal ammo that was bought during WW2.

If you buy ammo today at an inflated price, it will still be cheaper than ammo will be 10 years from now.
