Happy New Year! Hawks take on the Oilers to open up the New Year and will be looking to revenge their embarrassing 9- 2 loss to the Oilers during the Circus trip. In January the Hawks have nine games at home and will need to have another great month like they did in December because in February the Hawks go on the road for nine straight games.

Hawks win 5-1.

Stalbergberg with a multipoint night.

Crawfordberg stands on his head again.

Oilers are starting Dubnyk. Not sure why they are saving Khabi for the Sabres tomorrow, but good as he always seems to play us tuff.

I understand OD sitting (he's garbage) but why is Montador sitting?

I could have sworn I saw that they were starting Khabi... backup goalies love to torment the Hawks.

Oh well... we should destroy this team either way.

I don't understand the top two lines at all, but who cares, they won't last long.

They won with it against Detroit. Kruger missing forces some strange shuffling as does Q's mustache.

Like you said they won't last long..they never do.

I am looking forward to this game. Oilers are currently my second fav team to watch in the league. Even though they have grounded a little lately they are always a team that can beat you with speed and talent. I'm glad we are playing them at home as the Oiler faithful have become loud again. Home ice could be a big factor tonight.

Hawks seem to play down to the Oilers level when they could destroy them if they put in some effort. All I've seen is lazy and sloppy play. Stinking at the dots as well and the special teams have been pure shit. Had their PP/PK been worth a damn they could have won this game. Congrats to Hayes for netting his first NHL goal though.

What a useless effort again to start the new year. Hopefully it's not a sign of what is to come.

Very bad penalty by Carcillo (say what you want that was a momentum changer and it was playing catch up for the rest of the night after that..really dumb play by Carcillo)

Shaky goalkeeping (Craw didn't look comfy all night to be honest and he def needed to make that save on Eager. Craw was way out of position on that one).

poor powerplay (need to show a little more desperation on it)

3 keys for the loss.

Congrats Hayes for your first NHL goal.

Hawks shouldn't have lost this game esp after Nuge went down (which I am mad as hell about). Honestly that Carcillo penalty was just deadly. These are the games that are hard to swallow.

Q can also stack lines late in the game and not leave JT with Brunette and Stalberg..esp Brunette...still waiting 3 months later for that chemistry to develop..oh wait.....its NEVER GOING TO!!!!!
