Sorry, little late to the party, was hayes sent down for (foreseeable) good? Or was this another cap dancing move like they always do?I know with the trade a roster spot was taken but I didn't really think Hayes had hit the wall yet.No points in the last three games but he's looked decent and agressive which is all you can really ask for 11 minutes?

IMHO one of Bickell, Scott, or Lepisto needs to be moved (preferably for a non-roster acquisition--picks or AHL). Preferrably Lepisto or Bickell. Scott hasn't looked bad with the extremely limited ice time that Q's given him and IMHO should be the 6th D-man, if not the 7th.

Right now, I think Hayes earned his spot and even though some AHL time couldn't hurt--especially for logging more minutes, I think it sucks that the better player right now couldn't stay with the club.

Agree on Scott...if people would have paid attention to his play this year (not their pre-conceived notion coming into the year) they would see he has been pretty decent and the argument that he provides no use because nobody will fight him is simplistic. If nobody is willing to fight him then they won't be running our guys! Barring flukes, 95+% of the time when one of our guys gets hurt it is when Scott is in the pressbox. (Si vis pacem, para bellum, I think someone's tag line reads. If you want peace, prepare for war.)

Regarding the concern that the young guys are not all up right now...patience. We cannot win the cup between now and trading deadline. Things will change.

It seems he was sent down because he is AHL eligible and we needed a roster spot for Morrison.

And even if someone is in the pressbox (not saying Hayes should be there if he was still here) they still count toward the total active roster size right? They can only have like 23 or 25 total players on the roster no matter if they are on the bench or not?

You are only allowed during the regular season to have 23 players on your current roster. 20 skaters and 3 healthy scratches. Playoffs i believe you can have as many as you want but there might be a limit.

So yes, if they are in the press box as scratches they count as taking a roster spot.

That's good news then, cause i'm counting 21 which means Toews and Sharp must be playing next game? Cause if they aren't I don't know how you play any of the scratches over Hayes at this point. And you want him to play so I guess you send him down instead of the press box.

To my knowledge you can have 20 roster players (12 fwds, 6 D-men, and 2 Goalies), and 3 pressbox "Spares". If a player is on the LTIR, you can add an additional player to the roster as long as they are on the IR, once they are off someone has to move.

Right now (according to the main Blackhawks site), we have 3 IR players: Carcillo, Sharp, and Toews. Including them we have 14 FWDS, 8 D-men, and 2 goalies: That's a total of 24.

Sharp and Toews *may* be playing next game, The 'hawks may be hedging their bets for a quick call-up, or there may be anothetr move in play sening non-roster players away for a roster player or two.

My hope is the return of 10 and 19.

If 10 or 19 is not ready to play tomorrow, Hayes will be called up tomorrow. Hayes was sent down to save 15k when they acquired Morrison. There was not point in paying Hayes NHL salary once they added more money to the daily cap. Hayes daily hit 4.7k per day and Morrison 6.7k per day.

After the TDL teams can have an unlimited roster as long as they are at or under the cap.

Yup.

He's played just as well as almost any other 6th dman in the league (ESPECIALLY better than O'Donnell). His long stick (hubba hubba) and reach are a really good asset as well.

Yah what the ****? We haven't seen Scott play in how many games?

I thought the Hawks record was good when he was in the lineup? Not sure how much that has to do with Scott per say (unlikely much). But shit it was interesting and fun seeing how he interacted with the rest of the team on the bench and it was clear at times that the opposition did not enjoy him out there sometimes.

Scott should be the 6th Dman; no question about it.

Should be on the ice tomorrow. The Canucks don't like Scott and even if he is icing small minute the rest of the blueline had this week to rest and the fact that we are playing the Canucks I am sure they welcome the extra ice time.

I will be very disappointed if Scott isn't in the lineup tomorrow night.

I would bet money that he is NOT on the ice tomorrow... even though he should be.

agreed on all fronts, except the Daigle thing. He could have been great. It wasn't development that was the issue, it was heart.
