[A] Player Evaluation: Brent Seabrook

If JT didn't wear the C, Seabrook should. As far as Seabrook not having an A, is assinine and always has been. Seabrook is very vocal in the lockroom, on the ice and on the bench. He is usually one of the last ones out of the locker room encouraging the rest onto the ice to play the game.

No question he is 3-5 in the league and if the coach would limit his minutes, as a big frame like that shouldn't be asked to do 27 + a night, I'm sure his game would improve.

Seabs or Sharp... I'd be happy with either one, but I love our captain. As far as A's go... I agree but there are only so many to go around I guess... Did Van or some team have 4 A's instead of a captain or something not too long ago? Maybe the Hawks should go that round and just give out everyone a A?

No, I think Toews deserves it, for just the same reasons as Seabrook could or would have before JT arrived. Every team needs a "C" on the ice. I just think Seabrook is more of a Leader than Duncan. No offense to Duncan.

If no captain is on the ice, you can have up to 3 A's.

According to Quality of Competition, Seabrook has consistently been in the top 3-5 in the league for defenseman (#2 last year & year prior) the past few years or so compared to defenseman that have played over 50 games. Meanwhile Duncan has been in the top 15-25 range which is still impressive but the fact that Seabrook can play against the MOST QUALITY of competition night in and night out and still be so effective is what makes him incredible. Keith struggles from time to time, which is understandable but you rarely ever see Seabrook play a bad game or even have a bad shift. Chara, Phaneuf, Girardi, Lidstrom, Gleason, Weber, Robidas are generally among the names within the top 15-20 -- which has nothing to do with how "good" they are, just means they have a harder job to do against harder competition.

Outside of Toews, I would never trade Seabrook. IMO those two are both a true sense of "untouchable" on this team and without a doubt the two most important players that Chicago needs to win.

Seabs is still under-rated by the fan base around the league even though he has great respect from the players in it.

That's pretty much all you need to know about Seabs.

Without him this team is fucked on defense. Mine aswell start drafting top 5 again. Q can change up the defensive system to anything he wants and Seabs would still be productive within it. Hes the smartest defender we have and he is a team player and he adjusts so well game in and game out. Guys actually brilliant.

Again, in my opinion, if I had to choose between Keith and Seabrook, I would take Seabs 10 out of 10 times.
