I was going to explain what I meant, but your post clarified it.

Laroche is beloved around the league. Your leaders of the team are pissed. Other players and coaches have had their son's around teams. But, the White Sox handled this perfectly by lying.

:hawked:

Oh yeah, other players and coaches have their sons around the team, sure. But how many kids are participating daily in practice drills? How many kids get to travel on road trips with the team? How many kids get their own fucking locker in the clubhouse? You act like this Drake LaRoche situation happened with every single team in the league. It only happened with Adam LaRoche. And just because other teams honored does not mean the White Sox are required to follow suit.

And what exactly did they lie about? Becasae if you're going to take everything players say to the media as truth, then I have a bucket of dehydrated water I'd like to sell you.

I only wrote one sentence...are you implying that Jerry Reinsdorf doesn't own the White Sox any longer? Once again, I have no idea what you are talking about.

You wrote more than one sentence.

I guess that shows the ineptness of Kenny Williams and Jerry Reinsdorf....even when they are 'right', they still manage to come off as being 'wrong' and alienate their best player. In general, I think its strange that Jerry Reinsdorf believes he still has 'gravitas' with the fans. He went public with the Thibodeaux 'breakup', which was one of the dumbest PR statements ever put forth by an owner. He inserted himself into the LaRoche situation and expected his word to be final. The definition of tone deaf. In the end, the White Sox got LaRoche's salary off the books, which is usually the common theme in all of Reinsdorf's questionable actions.

Exactly. I think they said something like 120 games that the kid was at last year. I am sure the front office agreed that he bring his kid to the park, but I doubt they thought it would be that often.

I swear that KW said he didn't realize just how much LaRoche's kid would be around the team, but I'm struggling to find the quote.

But this situation was unique:

While almost every major league organization welcomes such bonding, Drake was something of an outlier. Even Ken Griffey Jr., perhaps baseball’s most famous son, was only in the big league clubhouse with his dad a handful of games a year.

And for those people who still (wrongly) think KW was acting all on his own:

Instead, it wasn’t until Williams heard complaints, sat down with LaRoche, and told him to scale back his son’s presence in camp. He could still come to camp and be in the clubhouse, but perhaps just half the time. Certainly, not every day.

Well, after their heart-to-heart talk, nothing changed, according to multiple people in White Sox camp.

LaRoche kept bringing his son to the ballpark every day. This went on for at least three or four days. When Williams saw Drake on the field this week, in the middle of a practice drill, standing on the pitcher’s mound, he lost it.

Williams told LaRoche that was it. He violated the privilege. No more clubhouse access.

Williams later relented, and went back to his original request, simply asking LaRoche to cut his son’s clubhouse presence to about half of the time.

You quoted a different post of mine...sorry for not being omniscient! So far, you have proven two things: 1) Reinsdorf owns the White Sox 2) I am not omniscient.

Am I missing something else? Was there a point in my original posting that implies Reinsdorf DOESN'T have the final word on all things White Sox?

I quoted your post and made my comment. You got lost. I said re-read your post. You had no idea what post I was referring too. Yes, I'm the one with issues.

Back to your original post...(let me know if you need the whole post again)..."He inserted himself into the LaRoche situation and expected his word to be final."...Yes, that firmly implies that his word isn't final to the situation. ergo my comment.

Good to know that White Sox business and public opinion are one and the same. So when Reinsdorf says something in regards to the White Sox, public opinion has no choice but to support Reinsdorf because he owns the team.

I guess my problem was assuming you had a minimal level of intellect to understand that I was talking about Reinsdorf in relation to public opinion. If you missed that obvious point in my posting, and then also thought that I was unclear as to whether or not the owner of a sports team has the "final word" on sports team matters, then God help you.

I am still completely lost why you began your post with "and yet", as if my posting about Reinsdorf and PR somehow contradicts the fact the Reinsdorf does indeed own the White Sox, but I guess we will never know the answer to that question. I'll have to re-quote myself from post #102...Even though I have no idea how your response is relevant to my posting, I would hope Reinsdorf's word is final for the White Sox....HE OWNS THE TEAM!!!!

So, you are calling the leader and best player on your team a liar? Because he is def. saying the KW lied to people. They shouldn't have allowed any type of deal with LaRoche with it. Look at the Cubs, kids can be in the clubhouse but have to be out 3 hours before. The White Sox set no guidelines or parameters on how much LaRoche son could be there. They screwed this up. Now, White sox fans are trying to demonize a player who well liked around the league. So, to conclude, if you believe this is how management should be run for a mlb team. I got a bridge to sell you.

No one is demonizing Chris Sale. NO ONE. Sale absolutely messed up in how he handled himself.
No one is calling Sale a liar either. Sale did what he thought was right and best though he was wrong.

Chris Sale keeps saying that no one on the team was against Drake being in the clubhouse. There are numerous reports to the contrary. I think Chris Sale is more misinformed than he is a liar, but yeah, sure, let's go with liar. He's still the best pitcher in Chicago. Being a liar won't affect that.

They shouldn't have allowed any type of deal with LaRoche with it. Look at the Cubs

/wanking motion

I give precisely zero fucks about the Cubs or their clubhouse policies. Quit tribar-ing.

You know the Sox weren't the first team to do this, right? KW's main mistake here was not fully grasping the extent to which Drake would be involved with the team. A mistake, yes. Not a particularly egregious one. As I quoted in an above post directed at SHC, Ken fucking Griffey wasn't in the clubhouse as much as Drake was. I think KW had a reasonable expectation for how much Drake would be around based on his prior experiences in baseball. LaRoche took that to a ridiculous extreme. He abused that freedom, basically.

Now, White sox fans are trying to demonize a player who well liked around the league. So, to conclude, if you believe this is how management should be run for a mlb team. I got a bridge to sell you.

Demonize a player? Are you high? When/where have they said anything bad about LaRoche? They've actually stumbled all over themselves to compliment him at every turn for his parenting skills. There hasn't been one negative quote from anyone in White Sox front office about LaRoche. No idea where you're getting this from.

I didn't know White Sox fans were the front office. I said White Sox FANS. You can read it for yourself and re-read this thread and the people talking the more they read about him. The more they dislike him. So, yes, White Sox FANS are doing it. Glad you don't care about the Cubs policies. Thats why they aren't in this media **** fest and the White Sox are.

Yeah, because he took extreme liberties with some freedoms granted by a front office and then copped out when someone suggested that he should dial it back a bit. That's not demonizing someone, that's calling someone out on their bullshit.

And LOL on those last two sentences. You really are tribar II. There are so many things to be excited about with that team this year and still you're in the Sox forum going LOOK GUYZ AFTER MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF FUTILITY WE FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!!
