Though Mayo would be an excellent acquisition on the surface, there's some questions about it. Is his game too much like Rose's? Is he attainable for a first, Bogans/Brewer and Johnson? Would you be willing to give up Bogans, a 1st, AND a 2nd for him?

I would think you would have to give up more than Bogans with that first round pick. That said, Mayo has some skills similar to Rose but they don't have the same game. Mayo can shoot a standstill three AND create his own shot off the dribble. He is also a decent defender. I just asked someone on twitter about it though and he said that backcourt might be too short. So hey, I don't know.

I honestly doubt he will be available this season, they still have to be waiting him to hit full development. That would be a waste of a draft pick just to deal him out.
I don't like this thought process.

We should deal for Mayo now and pair him with Rose so that when he peaks he is with us. If he peaks when he isn't with us then we end up paying more for him later.

"Buy low, sell high" type deal.

I'm not sure Mayo really fits in with our style of offense though.

James Johnson for D-Wade and future picks...

:obama:

Hypothetically, yes. I'd be willing to give up a marginal SG, a low first round pick, and a useless second round pick for OJ Mayo.

What if it takes more than that? What if it takes two 1st rounders?

Id just say fk it and do it. I dont see us getting anyone on the level of Melo, where we would need those firsts. We have two this year so lets give up ours for this year and next. We need to start going all in because this is the time.

So, two 1sts and Bogans for Mayo?

I think the real issue with the Mayo scenario is how good Xavier Henry is going to be, who has replaced him in the starting lineup. I don't really see him being that great.

So -- the question remains, then...how soon would the Grizzlies be looking to trade pieces? They are currently 8-12, and probably don't stand much hope for the playoffs...but we'd have to wait until closer to the All-Star Break to make an offer.

Another name to consider....
Eric Gordon?

He'd cost significantly more, though.

Sure. They'd be late round first rounders if we are as goos as we think we are going to be.

People get too hung up on draft picks in the NBA. Unless it's a top 2 or 3 pick it's not as valuable as a first rounder in the NFL.

The dude who I wanted in the draft: Xavier Henry of the Memphis Grizzlies. Great work ethic, nice left-handed shooter. Needs defense but has leverage over most two guards.

I think the move here is to trade Deng for Andre Igewgodola. Andre and D Rose is a 10yr back court. Andre is a much better athlete than Deng so defensively you get better. You can cut bogan, still play andre at sf in some cases, james johnson, kyle korver, and ron brewer could get a shot at sf but 1st you have to offer deng for melo closer to the trade deadline and talk ray allen into defecting next yr.

Lots of wishful thinking..

I think the team should gel with what they have, adding another player will just have the team starting over again in the chemistry department. All of the players are better scorers than Brewer or Bogans, but defensively not much better than Korver(exception maybe Wesley Matthews). But Brewer to me is a descent ball handler and can attack the rim and run the break, he does the little things and he can get a quiet 10 points a game. I like Brewer being the starting SG personally.

i think the bulls are stuck with brewer and korver. i would like to see bogans lose all of his minutes, but that seems like the only realistic move for the shooting guard position.

the bulls have to hold onto their assets until melo gets traded. they can't afford to use taj or any of their picks on a two guard with the melo situation still unresolved.

Unless they are actually interested in 'Melo holding on to those assets is pointless.

With the upside O.J. Mayo has combined with how complete our current team would look with him on the roster I would trade Bogans and two first round picks for him right now.

I'd bet money on Memphis saying no to that offer. Mayo is pretty average but he's been hyped as a potential star. You try to get him for a couple of crappy picks and a scrub to match salary, they're going to hold out for one of the other 28 teams to offer something better.
