Wondering what a going market rate for smith even would be?

12m/ year range? More or less?

whoever signs him will obviously have games played / injury clauses I would think.

I've seen lots of chatter that Alex Smith to the Bears is close...

While Alex Smith balled out in KC, he is very injury prone similar to how Mitch and Jay were.

His leg literally exploded.

Why would we want Smith over Wilson? Watson has similar injury problems but at least he's young af.

Your error is in your presumption.

No one would want Alex Smith over Wilson.

But if Wilson isn't available, an injury prone Alex Smith is still heads and shoulders above the remaining also-rans available to us.

I guess when you put it like that, seems less unreasonable. But regarding the leg transplant/cyborg chit, I think that's really something a standalone thread should address...
Probably best to get a thread going about his worldy wife too! The terminator stuff is cool but the lads need something to pull the handle off themselves and Arnie with his face hanging off is a challenging wank

Alex Smith would have been great 5 years and one leg ago. Seriously, He is a good quarterback, depending on what they do at LT I guess. I wouldn’t put him back there with Leno

This place will go absolutely postal if Pace brings in someone like Smith. It will be another mediocre season with no big name rookie to groom. Pointless

If we draft a QB then Alex Smith would be a great QB to have for the young QB to learn from.

Alex Smith presumably wants to play and left the Dumpster in D.C. to get an opportunity to do so. Much respect for his will to survive, but Chicago ain't a charity. Best of luck and stay healthy!

No he isn’t. He’s maybe the worst option.

If Pace and Nagy think rolling out with Smith and Foles is the right path, why not just fire them now?

I've become convinced that our fanbase is so mentally challenged they start to hate their QBs so much, they actually start to believe literally anyone else would be better.

I know a many here were POSITIVE that Foles would be night and day better than Mitch, they were wrong. I'd be shocked if most of them didn't feel Glennon was a true upgrade over Cutler as well.
Probably the same types that have called for the backup, or even the third string, to be the next QB.

It's really embarrassing to tell people I'm a Bears fan living in Wisconsin...not just cause the Packers have dominated them for nearly my whole life, but more so cause they feel our fans are so damn stupid...which many are.

Bears already made a mistake last year by paying decent money for a bum in Foles...why in the hell would you wanna bring in another one in Smith? Did people not watch him play last year?

Alex Smith's leg injury was far, far worse than your run of the mill ACL like Watson had. Dude almost lost the leg. He also turns 44 in September. Absurd move.
37, but yeah, carry on.

The guy who succeeded before in the same system we run is the worst option over people who even when healthy have failed on their teams?

This is what I mean when I say that some bears fans are seriously fucked in the head.
