I would pick LeBron as the runner up. But Iblocka deserves it more.

I don't think so, even though I wouldn't be surprised to see Ibaka get it. There isn't a better defender in the league than LeBron. Covers 5 positions, can do so in the same game (covered Bean, Gasol, and Bynum in the same game and he's done that plenty of other times), can keep up with fast PG's like Derrick and shut them down, and of course he is pretty solid stealing and blocking the ball. I just think he's the best defender out there and deserves the award.

Thibs broke a record this year that will be broken again in 100 years and he has his team 1st with 100000 injuries. Popovich deserves it too but Thibs must win this.

I agree with the last part, but you exaggerate the first part. The record wasn't SET 100 years ago, who is to say it will take that long, it was just set 5, 6 years ago. But Thibs is I believe in the top 3 of coaches in the league. A potential HOFer if he strings together 2 franchise players that buy in to his system (another like Rose buys in), he can have unprecedented success when it comes to winning percentage. We will see.

I would pick LeBron as the runner up. But Iblocka deserves it more.

No...he doesn't. Ibacka can't defend on the same level as Lebron. Lebron is one of the best defenders this league has seen because of his versatility. He can guard ANY POSITION ON THE FLOOR. The only player I can think of that could do what he can do...is Pippen and maybe Rodman, but neither was as fast or as strong as James. I will go with him, especially with Mr. Howard hurt this year.

Well said, you beat me to it.

Saw him cover Howard too. Mentioned this and 1 poster who DIDN'T EVEN WATCH THE GAME, told me that Lebron would be crying if he guarded Howard.

People can hate Lebron, I get that, but don't pretend he isn't as capable defender as he is.

I don't agree 100% but yes LeBron deserves to get this award once or twice in his career. He can cover all positions but his defense is a bit overrated imo. But only the fact that he can be above average defender in every position makes him worth this award.

Noah can defend every position too. Don't overrate Lebron's defense so much. Please and thanks. 3.69 BPG is an epic number.

For someone to break Thibs record he must be a new coach and have 2 consecutive 62-20 seasons or sth. I don't see it happen in the next 10-20-30 years. 100 was an exaggeration. I don't know how long it will take for someone to break this record. But it won't be easy.

Man, Howard did not like that much either. LeBron is a strong as hell, not easy to back him down at all.

Yeah, Noah can do an adequate job, he does a good job of stopping penetration on guards with average speed, but Bron just stops the ball completely. Noah is a great defender, but LeBron is clearly better. And I hate LeBron, a lot. Like, a lot a lot. I really, really, hate that little ***** and his skull cap headband combo he's rocking.

I can't deny how good he is on D though. Key in on him sometimes, ball rotation to his side just stops. He's smart enough to push the opposing player to weak spots on the floor, long enough to contest most shots, and fast enough to deny lane penetration at a high percentage. He's strong on the low block and doesn't get pushed around.

He's a generational freak man, the defense is more misunderstood than overrated. He gets a lot of love on ESPN for chasedown blocks and now that's all people think he does. He's the best perimeter defender in the game and isn't too bad on the block.

And I hate him.

I don't compare him to Noah. I just said that what he does there are LESS talented players who can also do it. Of course he is one of the best perimeter defenders and he must be given this award once or twice in his career. But this year almost every superstar scored above average against him and Ibaka had games with 10 and 11 blocks.

And I don't hate him. lol

Au contraire bruh...

Noah can't be on Lebron's level sitting his ass on the bench for half of the ECF. His defense isn't on the same level as Lebron's is. Sorry but Noah is not going to volunteer to guard the other team's premier point guard during crunch time and Thibs go along with it. That just ain't happening.

Oh I hate him irrationally. Out of curiosity, where is the data on that? I'd like to see OppFG% against him specifically, I've never been able to find it.

Noah defended Kobe in the last 2 minutes of the Lakers-Bulls game and he was one reason we did that great comeback. Having said that I don't compare him to Lebron. Just saying that he can defend every position too and he is not the most talented person on earth. It's not something only LeBron can do. Btw Howard did whatever he wanted in 2/3 Orlando-Miami games. I don't know when or what you saw. Maybe you saw the second game that was one of the bad Howard games (He has a lot bad games this year- not only against Lebron). But the Heat is one of the teams that he can do whatever he wants in the court.

Howard:
1st game:
25pts & 24 rebounds & 2 blocks & 3 steals
3rd game:
24pts & 25 rebounds & 2 blocks & 3 steals

This is my fav site for stuff like that.

LeBron James of the Miami Heat, NBA player stats

I don't know if you can find exactly what you want but when you see that his team allows less points with him out its enough to say about his defense being overrated.

Once again I don't say he is not one of the best defenders in the league. I am saying that he is not Scottie Pippen level defender.

That looks like they give up 101 with him on the court per 100 possessions, and 104 with him off it.

I don't think it's unheard of for noah to be on the all nba team. I'm not arguing that he should be there. I'm just pointing out that if tyson chandler is in the argument for all nba team, noah should get an honorable mention.
