That's why they play the games...

I think the only time the AS has been won by the team assumed to win it in the past 4-5 years was last year. 2 years ago, the AL had the better roster. Prior to that, the NL had superior pitching and defense, and their starting lineup looked better than the AL's... but that damned last-minute AS nod given to Michael Young in 2008 & 2009 proved it be absolutely critical with his late-game heroics (not to mention Uggla trying to give the game away in 2008 with his defense).

A pitcher's record is possibly the worst indicator of what they are likely to do in the future is the point since there were so many different factors affect besides the pitcher's ability, and techincally speaking the White Sox didn't beat Strasburg he got a no decision.
