the cubs wont be BIG buyers IMHO due to the 500 million debt issue.

frankly i dont know much about this...so i really cant make an argument here..all i can say is i hope that we atleast have SOME spare cash to atleast look at CJ..we need to improve our pitching..especially if Z really does wimp out here

carlos zambrano and ozzie are good friends. They roll together in the offseason, and if you remember, when z fought d lee, that night ozzie and zambrano went out to dinner. If ozzie isnt getting fired, KW will be making a call.

doesnt mean they wont butt heads...even if they are friends, they are still two hispanic hotheads

Why isn't Hendry fired? He's done nothing but sign bad contracts, yet he lives on to sign more bad contracts. The only reason he didn't trade Dempster or Zambrano or even Ramirez is because he didn't want to admit to all the bad contracts he signed!

i have a feeling that the end is near...

the grim reaper of baseball is sharpening his baseball like scythe

its shaped like ty cobb:shifty:

Looks like anger management really worked out for Big Z.

But if they didn't have to pay Zambrano 19 million next year which is clearly what they are planning on doing at this point, why couldn't they pay Wilson that much, which if I had to ballpark would be the area he probably gets next year?

yes.

But z wont retire. they will be forced to trade him or cut him loose. either way they are eating that whole fat contract. thats the problem

Get rid of Ramirez, Byrd and Soriano and you're on the right track.

unless ramirez has alot of value i still want him on the team...he is still a good offensive player

byrd,soriano,and pena are the three

but its easier said than done

again, hard to really say what direction the cubs personnel will be going this off season

will we be seeing a conservative or an "everything must go" approach?

frankly, i want to see some moderation..

i do think some guys need to be moved, though, that is for sure...

And that is exactly what I said. I want to give Wilson Zambrano's money, but I will believe Z turning down 19+ million when it happens.

Unfortunately I think Z will get the Sammy Sosa/Milton Bradley treatment. Not surprising to me but I really hoped it wouldn't come to this.

Yeah I don't see how this ends any other way than Z pitching for the Cubs because no one will take him.

Good, the sooner he leaves, the sooner we can move on. Zambrano should have become a boxer or a fisherman instead.

lol Z...gtf over it. you pitched like ass...you have by and large all season. You can blame this on whatever you want...you're under-performing at a Dunn-like level.
And for whoever blamed management on this one...meh...he was a really good pitcher when he signed the deal, and it was right before the bottom fell out of FA contracts, for the most part. It's garbage, but there were other teams willing to give Z that kind of money when the Cubs did.

and, for the Sox fans that want him. lulz. have you not been paying attention?

but he is going to be a part of the rotation next year

This franchise is fucked up. this is all on the ownership, upper management, and coaching staff. No control. Let the inmates run the asylum.
How in any way is that anyone's fault except Zambrano's? The guy is a ticking time bomb, and tonight he finally blew up. The Cubs have tried anger management and obviously it failed big time after what we've seen tonight.

If you think that this is the Ricketts' fault, or the front office's fault, what could they have done to prevent this?
