46 ... and just having a cruise around that HockeyDB site I just identified the "donut hole" I had in my following the Blackhawks; 1996-97 through 2006-07 -with the exception of the Brian Sutter years- and I remember now why it was too - I got the idea that Daryl Sutter quit as coach (they called it something different) - because he may have figured the team screwed over his little brother Rich who was on the team at the time. It was sort of a gradual thing too -as I figure the reason Larmer decided to demand a trade was how the team had decided to dump Keenan - and then Sutter too ... good God- the coaches in there and the suck ... Hartsburg, Molleken, Graham (great player - but had no business being hire as a coach), Suhonen (blah),...(At any rate -I decided ti was Pulford being Pulford ... and maybe it was Truthiness... maybe not ... but that was what I felt about it ).

I didn't go for that too much... now that I recall (that and I got involved in other things so I just sort of lost interest). I think hiring Savard as coach worked for me - - but man, there was- I think that 2006-07 season where the third leading scorer on the team was a guy by the name of Jeff Hamilton - I think he had 39 points.

You know - there is no way the team can ever suck to that level again ... or at least not for a long time. Some can call that homerism -- others can call it tasting a whole lot of shit over a whole lot of time -and not too long ago either -- that, frankly ... well - forget it -it stands on its own merit. :)

I'd forgotten all of that... (that and oh- I took a photo of my sticks out in the shed yesterday - will post them sometime -- my Canadien 7001's didn't make the trip - they were all torn up anyways - the one I broke that really hurt was breaking a Jofa/Titan one (forgot the exact model -and I don't even think it has a legal blade -it looks like you could pass a quarter through the spot between the heel and the toe of the blade ... maybe that was why I liked it so well (and now I feel like Sammy Sosa for mentioning it. :D ).

When you mentioned the "donut hole" years my immediate gut memory was that they changed coaches every year. It's probably wrong and I don't have the time to check atm.

Except for Hartsburg and Sutter, I think that is probably pretty close to right -and even then sometimes the guy wouldn't last the season.

I remember my brother wanting to get me tickets to a game when I'd come back in to town from (then) KC- and I told him not to waste his money... I didn't personally have anything against William Wirtz, but on the other hand I was not going to spend any money on his product when he wasn't either. I don't think that is something that any old band wagoner type will ever get ... that stuff was real, and it was not about "spoiled brat fans" - it was not subsidizing shittiness. Now on the other hand you got MacDonough -- who reminds me of Joe McGrath from Slapshot... the fashion show scene it if matters.

On another note ... I spent the malware period of the board looking for some images of Savard, Larmer and Secord ... I was thinking of trying my hand at some Hawks' banners -time permitting (and at the moment it isn't) -I'll throw them in here whenever I get to them.

Yes, and it is true that goalies think about things a little different than other players ... I guess one has to be a little, er... 'different' to stand in front of cannon blasts- intentionally. :)

Supposedly this is during the pre-game warmups (I sort of vaguely remember it).
