I believe my buddy (the one who stole my avatar) is right about it stemming from a weak immune system. Allergies also will further weaken your immune system while they are happening. I also know it can be a hereditary thing and have seen evidence of that. If you're not down with the mushroom idea, I've read drinking your urine can help (let me know how that works out).

You can if you go into anaphylactic shock.

No, I mean you specifically. Do you have allergies that as so bad, you are high risk for death? I'm just curious, not poking fun or taking anything lightly.

Unless I'm allergic to something that can kill me that I am unaware of [for example- I've never been stung by a bee], I think I'm good haha.

Dampened immune system? I think people that have allergies actually have a hypersensitive immune system. The immune system would needlessly go into overdrive when it the body comes into contact with harmless things like pollen and create a bunch of symptoms like sneezing, itchy eyes, etc. Allergies are a dysfunction of the immune system, but I don't think it's because the immune system is lacking. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I thought it worked.

I'm positive it's not a virus. I've had seasonal allergies since I was like 9. Always starts up in April-May and ends sometime in June/July.

I know it seems counterintuitive but hypersensitivity can be a sign of a compromised immune system (maybe medicinally induced). Your body may be overreacting to something that doesn't bother other mammals. If your body feels attacked it's often because it has a weakness in it's defenses/white blood cells can do more damage than good.

If you've had this reaction since 9 years old I'd guess you grew up around heavy pollution, pine tree farms or smokers.

I'd sugest you move out west to the desert, and avoid karaoke bars for obvious reasons

...not to be misconstrued as medical advice.

I had brutal allergies as a child. Some bad genes and exposed to smoking early. I went for allergy shots for a few years, my Dad actually driving me to the doctor's while having a butt in the car, lol.

The shots worked for me. No allergies as an adult at all, except the occasional cat will get me. The bad genes remain, mild psoriasis and ankylosing spondylitis. Sneezing can hurt like a motherfucker with that a.s. shit. Glad I got the shots as a kid.

The ankylosing spondylitis is a good example of auto immune conditions. Like you say that the immune system goes into overdrive for people with allergies, with a.s., the joints in the spine get inflamed and the immune system overreacts or misfires and starts to create bone tissue at the joints, eventually fusing those joints.

Movement for me is key. Desk job and I would be a board.

Yep. If you notice, allergies are much less common in,say, Africa.

BTW i've started developing allergies within the last few years. It seriously sucks. I have gotten to the point where I can differentiate between having an actual cold and having allergies(though some of the symptoms are similar...lymphnode swelling and headaches seem to come more with cold, allergies is just watery eyes and big sneezes). I take antihistamines(loratadine, specifically) and they seem to work ok.

I get mega itchy eyes and mouth (having itchy eyeballs is fucking bullshit)

Zyrtec works for me though, one of those little guys and I'm good all day. If they get bad enough I'll just get a steroid shot, my mom's ex husband used to have to get them at the beginning of each summer.

You're immune system has weakened. Get what I pointed to in my first post and take your vitamins and say your prayers. Some exercise wouldn't hurt either.

After about 5 days of suffering, my meds are starting to work. Cough is gone and not as congested. Ears still pop a little but not to much. My nose was clogged worse then a prison cell toilet during a search.

It's funny really, my allergies are horrible sometimes my eyes will get so bad I have to take a nap because they won't stay open. But I very rarely get sick. Cutting my grandmothers grass though... fucking got me this year.
