I could be totally wrong, but occasionally I get the feeling that we just let the Israeli's do things and then just "pretend" we have no idea how something happened.

This is a totally valid point and one option. It could have been Iran, it could have been the US, it could have been right hand man, Israel. One of the problems is that the Iranian government is a ok with a war. Ahmadinejad and higher up government officials and wealthy Persians will continue to provoke and then they can justify all sorts of military expenditures. They don't have to explain their decisions to people who are already oppressed and hold very little power. It is war time. This is what we're doing, bitches. As a result of war with the west they want their citizens to band together against a common enemy (in this case, Team America, as someone mentioned earlier), but it's no big thing if they revolt and then can be killed by the government. Control the masses with fear and hatred of others

And much of this can also be applied to many other nations.

Obviously.

Who's ready for war!?!

http://news.yahoo.com/u-military-moves-carriers-denies-iran-023925806.html

The U.S. military said on Wednesday that a new aircraft carrier strike group had arrived in the Arabian Sea and that another was on its way to the region, but denied any link to recent tensions with Iran and portrayed the movements as routine.

The shift in the powerful U.S. naval assets comes at a moment of heightened tensions with Iran, which has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz - the world's most important oil shipping lane - if U.S. and EU sanctions over its nuclear program cut off its oil exports.

The U.S. military has said it will halt any blockade of the strategic strait and the top U.S. naval officer acknowledged on Tuesday that preparing for a potential conflict there was something that "keeps me awake at night."

You know, inferior military forces can still keep superior US forces on their toes with Guerilla tactics and using human shields, IEDs etc. On the ground.

At sea Theres no where to hide, no civilians to put in front of you to make us hesitate. The Iranians would just get obliterated, they arent going to do a damn thing. Do they even have any aircraft carriers?

China is the only other country with a conventional air craft carrier and their's has not even been commissioned for sea duty yet, it's still in sea trials.

Who said we would predicate a large scale military invasion simply on some Iranian fast boats shooting a few rounds at our enormous battleships and carriers?

I am not implying military invasion, just saying if the Iranians tried to establish a naval blockade it would be stupid and they wouldnt have a chance.
