Irsay also created a mess. Ballard has his work cut out for him. Tolzein is not a NFL QB and Pagano is not going to be able to win with him and will likely be the scapegoat at the end of the season.

Luck's cap hit is under $20 million this year, but it spikes to $24.4 million in 2018, $27.5 million in 2019, and $28.4 million in 2020.
I guess that is a possibility, but not to many teams will be able to afford him.

Those numbers are deceiving. He could be released in 2019 for only a 6.4 mil cap hit in '19 and '20.
If it doesnt work, you release him. If it does work, no one cares that he's slightly overpaid, and he gets a restructuring/extension in 2020. This is a no-brainer for a GM that's high on him.
However, i'm not high on Luck at all. He's so over hyped and has done nothing but under achieve those unrealistic standards set for him. I don't think he's a bad QB, but dont ever see him being elite either.

They could have given Luck some helping by improving their offensive line or defense instead of drafting Phillip Dorsett who they recently traded for a late round pick. I still like Dorsett but at the time the Colts already had TY Hilton, Donte Moncrief and Andre Johnson.
