I’m a realist with Nagy. Maybe it won’t be his worst year, but it will be one of them. Not to mention, Dalton has been pretty consistently a bottom 20 QB the past few season.

Cynics always call themselves realists. I believe it's a coping mechanism due to a negative self-image.

That’s an interesting theory. Actually, 2...that I’m a cynic and also have a negative self image. Personally, I think my theory holds more water than both of yours. But maybe Dalton will have a solid year. Certainly possible

Wouldn't Bears fans take 375/567, 3,927 yards, 30 TD's, 11 INT's, and a 95.1 rating, all day every day? Wouldn't that be like the best any Bears QB has done in forever?

Those are very strong NFL QB numbers.....

Its 2021 not 2015 and the guy has never won anything LOL at anybody touting someone good play for 5 years ago that resulted in nothing but wildcard losses with an all pro wideout and a robust running game .

Foles comes here doing a pandemic and doesnt have any offseason and no preseason games all while splitting reps in camp and hes a bum thats getting blamed for not being able to turn around the 29th ranked offense despite in the last 4 years having won a SB and a playoff game by beating us in our building .

Dalton aint played well since Fox was walking our sideline and even then never won a playoff game despite having some very good teams . He took over a loaded Cowboys offense that was averaging 32 ppg and proceeded to avg 22 ppg in a garbage division ,

Whats even more bizarre is that you have people who argued that Foles won a SB by taking over a loaded offensive team well if thats the case what does that say about Dalton who took over loaded offense in an eve better situation and failed miserably yet somehow he is about to come and lift the bears who are in a win or go home situation when he has NEVER won in those situations ?

Last year they got away with a lot because there were no fans in attendance but this year is gonna be blood bath. This year is gonna be a turning point for this franchise from the top on down

Doubt it. Maybe a few years ago. We’ll see, but this isn’t 2013 Andy Dalton, or even 2016 Andy Dalton.

34-year old 2021 Andy Dalton will probably be worse than Cutler. ESPN 1000 was reading off his stats over the last 5 years the other day. He was either last or very close to last on just about everything. At least Cutler statistically was usually middle-of-the-pack until the end.
Watch Dr. Draft Phil the tape never lies breakdown of Dalton, it will show a very different story. His mechanics, arm strength, deep-ball accuracy and ability to read the defense is still as good as it's ever been for him

I’ll take his and your word for it. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but if that doesn’t translate on the field, which it hasn’t over the last several years, what does it matter that the tape is kind to him?

What happens is fans get caught up in a narrative, in the mentally it's hard to break free from that narrative.

In this case we have The narrative of him not being the guy in Cincinnati and the disappointment from that, and because of that it has followed him around.

meanwhile no one wants to take a look at the more complex things of why someone succeeds or fails.

I will give you a case in point:

Men's trubisky was obviously not the right quarterback because he read defenses way too slowly and couldn't barely get past his first read or two. As such, either him or Matt nagy get the blame for him failing.

However, what is lost on people with regards to the offense overall, is that Cody white hair was the center for the longest time and was playing out of the position he made the pro Bowl in, left guard. On top of it, thanks to the comparison when Sam Mustapher took over, we now know white hair have a serious issue with the calls at the line the center must make.

Indeed part of the reason our offensive line looked so bad wasn't from a lack of talents but because Cody was having a lineman blocked the wrong people and making the wrong calls at the line.

When you had someone who knew how to make the right calls at the line in Sam, suddenly the O line improved dramatically.

that's what I mean by digging deeper but right now most people would just say casually that are offensive line sucks because they haven't invested the time or energy to understand it.

Basically it's the lazy way out.

I think the same thing is happening with Dalton here.

and a lot of the resistance to the fact that Dalton really is an okay quarterback, more falls along the lines of fans asking the people saying such to not make them think hard and to do things when they already have their lazily comfortable opinion that they don't want to change it this time. Basically it's the classic "don't make me do stuff" excuse.
