I just don't understand this line of thinking.

I understand the people that doubt that he'll ever be a star, fair enough. But those he has received tremendous amount of hype these past few seasons, he has still produced with all the pressure from the media as well as on the court - all this with his apparent lack of basketball skill and lack of athletic ability.

This guy has been doubled teamed, and often times tripled team, and brutilized with fouls for over 2 seasons, yet he has often been the best big man on the court on most nights, isn't that worthy of hype?

He won't be a superstar, he may not even be an all-star, but he'll definitely be in the NBA for many years and he'll put some players on their asses and embarress his opponents that don't respect him along the way, book it.

I believe he meant that he would root for him if he was on the Bulls, but preferred if he wasn't on the team so he wouldn't have to.

I hear what you guys are saying, just don't think he will last long in the NBA, could be wrong, but seriously doubt it.

I know Hansbrough is kind of rough, but at pick 26, I'm all over what he will provide. He will get beat by better athletes, but playing off the bench will drive others from other teams crazy!

He is not going to be some All-Star, but we need some toughness, and he probably would have been fighting Rondo, Baby, etc... He is not athletic like David Lee, but his player IQ is through the roof, he is not some stiff, and he can shoot a jumper! He reminds me of a Christian Laettner type player; not as skilled offensively, but tougher and will scrap!

50% of the guys drafted in the 20-30 range don't do better than the barely hanging on as 12th man to out of the league status. I think Hansbrough will definitely do better than that. I see him as somewhere between a 7th and 10th man. For a #26 pick, I think you take that and are quite happy, but I don't think he'll be around.

Understood, but I think you get the best basketball player available, I am sure there will be better players than Hansbrough available. Or you draft according to need, you don't need Hansbrough. There have been some very good players drafted late in the first round, starters, allstars....I think they can get something of value but who knows?

If we do something like Jerome James, Tyrus Thomas, and Joakim Noah for Amare Stoudemire, we will need some more bigs, as we'd have Amare starting at power forward and then Brad Miller at center. Deng could spend some time at the 4, but we'd still want two more bigs.

Does anyone else think that Taj Gibson would be a much better NBA player than Hansbrough?

I would draft gibson at 26.

At this point, the only team to give Hansbrough a private workout is Chicago, although he expects to schedule several more soon. The Bulls had him at the Berto Center last weekend and while there he took a look at the six championship trophies on display at their headquarters.

“I like the tradition,” Hansbrough said. “At North Carolina, we’ve had our tradition ourselves. It would be nice to go to a place that has that same tradition, has a winning program kind of style.

“I saw their (playoff) series against Boston. They’re a pretty tough team. We’ll see what happens.”

I definitely agree. It's worth the risk at 26 if he's there. He has some unique skills that suit us, and even if he's not that great, at least you know you have a scrappy bench guy who'll try out there. I don't think you can pass him if he's there in the late first.
