This is probably a problem only for people outside Chicagoland who won't be able to get WGN on the airwaves. Plus I'm not sure how MLB.tv blackout rules work, but that might be an issue as well for out-of-market guys.

I can field this one. It is the worst of both worlds out here past Rockford. We count as home market for the Cubs and Sox, but aren't close enough to get WGN through the airwaves. So awesome...

MLB.tv blacks out certain home games (as does ESPN3) so there's little incentive for me to invest in it. I don't know if they've changed their policies though.

I'm almost certain those rules still apply. I bought MLB.tv one season and you can watch the games in the home market after it is played. But it is hardly a solution for this problem.

Nah, I merely mentioned it as an alternative to trying to get games on WGN. Obviously it won't work though if blackout rules are in effect.

Yes. DirecTV is the best price price in town for the channels my family wants, HD pacakge, and dvr (I refuse to give this feature up). This happened a couple years ago with VS, and eventually we got the channel back. I think it is doubtful that I get to watch Strasburg, but I would be surprised if this lasted more than a month or two. Now that doesn't mean that I won't be complaining on April 5th when I don't get to watch the game, and trying to see what DirecTV is willing to do to keep me happy.

I hear you. I have DirecTV as well. The cable company here kept upping their price for no reason, so we had to switch. I really hope they get this resolved before the season starts. If not, they'll need to do something to appease their upset customers over this, especially Cubs fans. Haha

I like the local cable myself, but I really enjoyed Dish. More options and CSN Chicago in Ohio? :fap2:

At 2 this afternoon, WCIU announced a deal they'd pick up the opening day feed for DirecTV.

This was then shot down at 6:30.

DirecTV has filed a complaint with the FCC that WGN reneged on an agreement that was made prior to the blackout.

What a mess.
