We don't know, for sure, but I don't think that we're alone, mostly because we do know about how big the universe is. And it's big. And it's constantly expanding. So, it would be crazy to think that in all of it, we're the only intelligent form of life.

the question that arises from that is then why havent we been contacted by intelligent life

i see a couple of reasons for that

1.Life(in general or intelligent life) is very rare

2.There's lots of life....and intelligent life too but it hasnt developed to the point where it can contact life far far away

3.Life has evolved into extremely intelligent forms but they don't want to contact us...

4.Intelligent life doesnt last long on the host planet

Yes, we are alone. There is no other decent Chicago sports forum out there.

But for the real question...
They have fossil evidence of extraterrestrial bacteria from Mars. So life is possible elsewhere, and it may only be a matter of time before we know for sure if any extraterrestrial life still lives.

A few moons of Jupiter and Saturn have water, so there would be a good place to start. Also extrasolar planets in the habitable zone are possibilities. But with current space travel technology we'd never get there.

I would have to say that we are not alone i mean there is some pretty compeling evidence that we aren't alone. Like the lights over arizona in i think it was 1993, and then the military tried to downplay it. Not only that, but Mars is a perfect example we have found that Mars probably use to support life. For some reason and we obviously don't know it lost the essentials to carry life on the planet.
