Are you disappointed a rookie QB could not save inept play calling and a terrible OL?

If you are, name me one rookie QB in the past century that would have made the Bears offense competent?

All rookies that have come in and played well were put into great situations OR were in the 1st year of a gadget system that was eventually figured out aka RG3. Wilson, Big Ben, etc were on loaded rosters and made the playoffs. Truth is, most of the rookie QBs struggle despite decent teams. Fields is struggling with shit around him. This is no surprise.

Switch olines and what would the score have been.

fields can’t run bc of the line either,

they give up pressure up middle and outside and middle is impossible to overcome.i

Tampa’s line must have four pro bowlers at minimum

Protection is important.
Patrick is struggling without it this year.
They literally had to get rid of two centers and both tackles because they have to pay so many people.

Disappointed? Nope not at all, anything that gets Pace and Nagy to be shown the door is a win for me at this point..

I'm not surprised but I'd be lying if I said part of me wasn't hoping that Fields would light it up and carry this franchise toward competency and respectability, if not to competitiveness right away,

Yup. Fields is going to get a taste of what not to do going into next year. Hopefully, he grows a lot from this and can excel to the next level.

I heard brady in a seminar at a golf tournament and he says he has a lot of power for the plays being called.

if you want to rub and they’re set up against it he’ll usually pass. Vice versa

when they blitz you your hot route and only him as you don’t have time.

But one of the most interesting thing is that they keep track of personnel on all play calls! If for example Mack goes out they’re going to call a long throw possibly. Or run in middle of hicks or Goldman go out and they pick on weaker cb’s.

he also said that he rarely got to third read if ever because he knew the defense the. Players and his players so he’d go with them and trust they’ll get open.

If they had just one aspect of their offense going for them, I would be right there with you. They are missing their only strength in Montgomery. Herbert looks like he can run the football but he was horrible in pass pro. That takes time for a rookie RB as well. The crazy thing is that even the few times that Fields actually got decent protection, there were very few options down field. And this was against a banged up GB and TB secondary. Those were the weak points of the Bears opposition and receivers are not getting open.

So you have a combination of:

- terrible OL protection
- receivers who can not get open more than 5 yards down the field
- receivers who can't catch anything that is not between the numbers
- a TE who does drop a pass between the numbers that would have been a 3rd down conversion
- poor and predictable play calling
- a rookie who is trying to develop but can't get any momentum because of all of the above
