Now that you've made the distinction about completely abandoning the Sox or spending money on them, I can completely get on board with your opinion. As I stated earlier, I won't be spending money on the Sox, at all, until I start seeing improvements (on the field, obviously, but off the field more importantly).

I still have some faith that they can pull through this with a respectable team. GO SOX!!!!

if they dont move konerko there is still a chance this team can still do ok.

de aza
aram
dunn
konerko
viciedo
aj
rios
morel
beckham

that isnt a bad lineup at all. I cant see dunn repeating this past years numbers.

danks
floyd
sale
humber
peavy

also isnt a bad starting staff

but if they start moving the big pieces like konerko, thornton, and or danks/floyd it could be ugly.

i put this together pretty much knowing that CQ is a goner this offseason.

If the sox had any clue, they would try to restore the PR disaster that occured all season and up to now.

As a whole I disagree with you on KWs career as a GM, but I do agree that the last 2 seasons he has totally lost his mind. Again the Dunn thing I dont blame him for, but I do blame him for Rios, Peavy, not controlling ozzie etc. what a cluster **** this has turned out to be.

^^^ I completely agree.

CQ will be gone. Maybe Floyd or Danks. Hopefully, not Thornton, Konerko, Danks and maybe Floyd, just like you said.

And I also think, that while I hate KW, that Dunn will have a better year next year. There is no way he can do as bad. I would almost say the same thing about Rios, but he has been in the American League his entire career and his lapses in center field are just inexcuseable.

Maybe Ventura, and a hitting coach that could actually HELP hitters like Beckham, Morel, Rios and Dunn, will light a fire under this team's ass come spring training. I still have some faith!

I can't see dumping a team unless you feel they're not even trying to win because that's a slap in the face to fans. Taking the wrong routes to winning is forgivable.

Then again I dumped the Vikings because Brett Favre makes me sick to my stomach and I never want them back so my statement is a bit hypocritical. Oh well :D

I don't like the options on this poll. It makes it seem like I'm an idiot if I'm actually going to be loyal to the team that I've loved since I was a kid. I will never forget about the White Sox. Just like I never forgot about the Blackhawks. Just like I'll never forget about the Bears. And Bulls. Loyalty is cool. You should learn about it sometime.

Fairweather fans to the left.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Carolina Hurricanes
  1. Duke Blue Devils
I also would like to share my disappointment in UMAN for sporting a theo avy and posting in the cubs forum now as a cubs fan. to me, that is sad.

To be fair, giving up on your team is equally as sad. Just sayin.

If you can't suffer through the lows, you don't deserve to enjoy the highs.

Look, Uman85 didn't just switch.

He was originally a Cubs fan, but also liked the Sox, then he started rooting for the Sox more while still a Cubs fan as well... now he is just supporting the Cubs move while there isn't much to talk about in the Sox forum besides hating the team.

And as for this poll... never quit on your team. :smh: Who would you even be a fan of?

Fans should be happy that the Sox are going through a rebuilding phase. Sure, Konerko will be gone by the time the Sox are good but at least they'll be good eventually. Would you rather have a couple years of bad and then a long streak of good years or mediocre years every year? I know which one I would choose. Rebuilding isn't bad. The Royals are doing it and the Rays did. It's a good thing.

Were not rebuilding, were shedding excess fat from the Ozzie era.

You honestly think your team will suck forever? Well, I guess any team can have a bad century, but I doubt the have a huge drought like that...

I still don't think we are going through a complete overhaul, there are plenty of good pieces still here and any year is a year where a few players can have career years.

Also, IF the team was rebuilding, who is to say that it would only be a couple of bad years and then a long streak of good years? That would depend on draft picks being good and free agents being great. That hasn't happened in quite a few years, so that just sounds like a gamble.

And the Royals have been "rebuilding" for over 20 years, they aren't a great example of trying to show how rebuilding can be a good thing.

Sounds like a lot of flip-flopping to me. I know a few people who "root" (and I use quotes there because they are flip-floppers too) for a few teams in a single sport and then really start supporting the one team that has the best year heading into the playoffs. To me, they are just fake fans, but to each their own... if they enjoy it, good for them.

Atleast I now know that Uman is a Cubs fan first and foremost. A lot of things make more sense now.

I'm NOT happy with this team or management right now but, I am a DIE HARD fan which means that I'm not a fair-weather, bandwagon jumper when things start getting rough.

I DESPISE KW with a passion. I thought the Sox should have fired his ass along with letting Ozzie walk.

With that said, if we do trade Konerko, CQ, AJ, Danks or Floyd, and Thornton, I'm excited for the haul of young players we might get in return. That's one thing this team has been lacking the last several years, is good, young, hungry ballplayers.

I do have to say that with KW's track record lately, there is a part of me that thinks he might screw up any possible trades. But, I'm not dumping the team at all. ever.

I'm also excited that one of my favorite Sox players of all time is now the manager. It'll be interesting to see how he does to say the least.

have to agree with you here. perfect example of fair weather fandom by following the sexy move. I was also a Cubs fan as a kid, but that was when I was a kid, I dropped the Cubs and made my choice going back is not even an option.
