They really need their own ballpark, instead they play in a shitty football stadium

They're working on it but have various obstacles, 95% of which is because of the Giants.

The neighborhood surrounding their stadium doesn't help, but then again playing in Oakland doesn't necessarily bring in waves of fans either.

The stadium has a huge parking lot which is great for tailgating before Raiders and A's games, and is very conveniently accessible by public transit, so location isn't an issue really. It's more the fact that the stadium is crap and the team is also crap.

Yeah...closer to the hills though.

I had a friend who moved to San Diego a few years ago and frequented Oakland pretty frequently(he's a Raiders fan). Apparently the East Bay area and the west side are the two main areas to avoid. Heavy gang activity and crime.

Like I said it has been a long time since I've been in Oakland. It wasn't Detroit, but it wasn't good was my recollection.

There are some nice touristy parts but generally people don't go to Oakland

Well my Aunt lives in suburbs of San Francisco. So I've been through some parts of Oakland, but yeah we didn't really go to Oakland for anything.

Speaking of Oakland...Miguel Cabrera started a pretty nice 5-4-3 double play. He doesn't completely suck ass at 3B.

Yeah maybe that Jim Leyland guy knows a thing or two about baseball.

I think he figured Miggy would produce more runs than he lets squeak past him.

I agree that is probably what he was thinking, but there were a lot of people questioning whether that would be the case at the start of the season.

I didn't really question it. I knew the defense would be bad but I was also rather confident they'd outslug their mistakes.
