Yeah a lot of the top prospects are going to start coming up, but it will still be a bit before we see Rizzo or Jackson.

Tigers did ask about Soriano in offseason, but were willing to pick up only about $5M total of his remaining $54M over this & next 2 yrs.

Yeah the rumor was that teams were willing to pick up about a third of his salary this year and nothing for the next couple of years since they think his production will only trend downward. Can't say I blame them, but at that point I am not sure what the Cubs get out of a deal where they get nothing in terms of prospects and 5% of his salary covered.

Nice debut for Harper. 1 for 3 with a double off the center field wall and an RBI sack fly. He had a guy nailed on a perfect throw to home but Ramos dropped the ball. At 19 years old! I'm extremely jealous of what the Natinals are building.

By definition there'd be no reason to call Rizzo or Jackson "top". :)

:obama:

There isn't a single ranking system I've seen with either of them outside of the top 50, and they are both in the top 40 on some lists.

We aren't the White Sox who had one Top 100 prospect... who checked in at #100.

Top is maybe 10 deep for a single organization... we aren't saying ultra-elite here.
