But to Hall of Fame for Jeter. Does not deserve that honor whatsoever.

Lance Berkman hit a home run that smacked the "A" in the Pirates hedge in center field.

Never doubted that Berkman still had pop in his bat, but seriously only the Cardinals get a guy who has been on the decline who magically puts together one last awesome season for them.

The Cardinals are a very good and very lucky organization.

It is more good than luck, but I am so sick of watch guys that are washed up magically become good for the Cardinals. Tony Womack is the prime example of that crap. Somehow, someway Tony Womack actually was a useful 2B for the Cardinals when he hadn't been in a half dozen years exactly when the Cardinals had a huge hole at 2B.

Dunno that much about Womack the Cardinal but Womack the Diamondback was pretty good in that Game 7 :D

I think some of it has to do with coaching and TLR. He knew to only use, for example, Aaron Miles in certain situations. He does some dumb shit like batting Theriot leadoff, but he's a crafty one.

Tony Womack the Diamondback is pretty overrated. He played well in game 7 I will give you, but his 2001 season was pretty craptacular, .266/.307/.345. In fact the only season he played in over 140 games and hit above 300 was for the Cardinals. He actually batted 25 points higher for the Cardinals in a season he played 140 games or more than any other season.

That's the point, Tony Womack fucking sucks, but somehow for the Cardinals he was able to hit .307 with a .349 OBP in his 30s when he hadn't done anything close to that prior or following that season.

The Astros will leave town and the losing will continue. And I wouldn't count on that 3 game winning streak yet. Seriously does anyone know how many teams have gone the whole year without winning 3 in a row?

Garza's on the mound tomorrow so if he is his usual FIP-y self the Cubs should sweep.

Doesn't Baseball-Reference have something you can use to search that?

Going year by year to see the team's longest winning streak is the only thing I have found. They don't strore streak info in the standings for each season as far as I can tell. I was listening to 720 Sports Central and one of the guys said something off handed about 4 teams not having won 3 in a row in a season, but I have no idea if that is true. I know the Cubs have never gone a season without winning 3 in a row, and that the latest it has taken is game 108 to have won 3 in a row.

Watching the Pitt/ATL game and James McDonald has some pretty wicked off-speed stuff.

To be honest the Pirates right now remind me a lot of the 2001 Cubs. Their pitches don't have the flash of the Cubs pitchers back then, but it is a team with a really, really bad offense and a very nice pitching staff.
