Saw on CSN Chicago that the previous schedule rumors of 7 vs. div. and 2 vs. conf not true. 5 vs. 2 div. opponents, 4 vs. other 2, 3 vs. conf. Don't like this at all.

Why don't you like that at all? It makes sense. Not really a much better way to go about it at this point.

Uneven schedule even within division, much rather just do 7 vs. division, 2 vs. rest of conference. Much more equal in-division, though I guess that fucks up seeding, but I'd rather have to play the same teams as the rest of our division.

To fire a GM at this point, there had to be some sort of struggle. If they should go for it or rebuild. If they should get Luongo or not. Who knows but there has to be something more than just "he wasn't performing".

something internally had to have been said or done for this to happen. I am very shocked. I would accept him with open arms in the hawks org

Holy crap look at all the Luongo Rumors

Enrico Ciccone via twitter: A source in Philadelphia said the Flyers are interested in Roberto Luongo.

James Duthie via twitter: Despite some denials, Ciccone’s tweet is accurate. This doesn’t mean they will get him or make an offer, but they have inquired. They could buyout Ilya Bryzgalov in June.

Adrian Dater via twitter: Flyers GM Paul Holmgren is going after Luongo big time. They will buyout Bryzgalov next year.

Frank Seravalli via twitter: Holmgren on the Luongo rumors: ”That made me chuckle. Safe to say they aren’t true. They have no basis or merit.”

Adrian Dater via twitter: Don’t believe the Flyers denials of having interest in Luongo, they are very interested.

Adrian Dater via Sulia: The Flyers thought process as of last night is, to trade for Luongo then:
1. Secretly hope that Ilya Bryzgalov retires to the KHL right away.
2. But with his huge contract making that about a 1% chance of happening…
3. Just barely sneak Luongo’s $5.3 million cap hit under the cap level of $70.2 million for this season, and go with a goalie tandem for this short season of Luongo-Bryzgalov. This assumes that Chris Pronger’s nearly $5 million cap hit comes off the books this year, because of LTI relief. (Long Term Injury).
4. If they don’t win a Stanley Cup with that tandem they…
5. Buy out one of the two contractually. That leaves the other standing as the No. 1 guy, and then they can worry more about getting under the $64.3 million cap for next year.
The fact is, the Flyers regret the Bryzgalov signing. He was brutal most of last year, regular season and playoffs. They are curious as to what it would take to trade for Luongo.

Adrian Dater via twitter: The Canucks would like to get Nicklas Grossman in a Luongo trade, but it’s unclear if the Flyers would go that far. If the Canucks can’t get Grossman, may ask for Luke Schenn.

Dan Rosen via twitter: No matter who is trying to trade for Luongo, the Canucks won’t give him away, and Gillis will want fair value for him. It won’t be a major haul, but a good prospect and a decent draft pick seems fair.

Craig Custance via twitter: Canucks GM Mike Gillis said he hasn’t talked to Nonis about a Roberto Luongo deal: ”Not allowed to talk about trades until this deal is done. It’s not done.”

Darren Dreger via twitter: Burke wanted Luongo bad and Nonis will push for him as well. The Canucks insist there are other teams interested. The Canucks want to get quality return for Luongo, and can still see him working out well with Schneider in a shortened season if the right deal isn’t there. Staying in Vancouver isn’t the first choice for Luongo, both are professionals, and Luongo won’t go a city that isn’t right for his family.

James Mirtle via twitter: Mirtle was told that even with Burke, the Maple Leafs and Canucks were close on a deal. Burke thought the asking price was too high and was playing the waiting game.

Roberto Luongo (AKA Strombone) via twitter: “If this keeps up I’m pretty sure I’m gonna have to go on meds……..”

SENATORS LOOKING TO MAKE TRADE
Senators GM Bryan Murray has already started to work the phones and explore various trade possibilities, the Ottawa Sun reports.
Murray would like to add another defenseman to the roster, but he isn't sure which way he'll go about obtaining one.

"At some point in time, we likely have to add one veteran guy, whether it be through trade or signing a unrestricted free agent," Murray told the Sun. "We'll have to address it."
According to the paper, the Senators could be looking at UFA blueliners Kent Huskins and Milan Jurcina.

Teams aren't able to officially complete trades or free agent signings until the Collective Bargaining Agreement is ratified by the NHLPA. Their process begins tomorrow and ends Saturday, upon which the lockout will end and training camps will open on Sunday.

"There's several guys that are veteran types that have played in the league and are more than adequate," Murray said of some of the unsigned free agents. "We have spoken to a couple of agents. It's just a matter of deciding if we want to go that route."

The Senators bolstered their defense on July 1 when they acquired Marc Methot from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward Nick Foglino, and signed free agent defenseman Mike Lundin, but the team also lost Filip Kuba and Matt Carkner to the free agent market.

SYKORA LEAVING THE DEVILS
Veteran and unrestricted free agent forward Petr Sykora will not be signing a new contract with the New Jersey Devils, TFP has learned.
Sykora's agent, Allan Walsh, tweeted that his client "will be playing in the NHL this season," but wouldn't reveal where.

Walsh declined to comment when contacted by TFP.
"Can't say," he replied.

Teams are not able to sign free agents or complete trades until the NHL lifts the lockout, and that won't happen until Saturday afternoon at the earliest once the NHLPA ratifies the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The NHL's Board of Governors unanimously voted in favor of ratifying the CBA yesterday.

Sykora, 36, finished sixth on the Devils in scoring last season, picking up 21 goals and 23 assists for 44 points. He also collected two goals and three assists for five points in 18 playoff games helping the team reach the Stanley Cup Final.

In 1,017 career NHL regular-season games with the Devils, Anaheim Ducks, New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Minnesota Wild, Sykora has accumulated 323 goals and 398 assists for 721 points.

He was originally drafted by the Devils in the first-round (18th overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.

yay for projections! too bad they have to still play the games.

I was just posting it man, it can paint an idea, though I obviously don't think we are better than STL. I still think 4th seed is about right.
