From the moment the Chicago Bulls selected the 6’3” guard from Simeon Career Academy High School with the first pick of the 2008 NBA Draft, Derrick Rose had a massive burden on his shoulders. The hometown kid had the expectations placed upon him to lead his beloved childhood team back to the peak of the NBA mountain top.

Great article. I know you're talking about basically offense, but I, personally, love his blocks. They're awesome haha.

My favorite part about DRose is his humbleness.

I read over on RealGM today that during the pre-draft workouts, the Bulls were still deciding between Beasley and Rose. They asked the two what their LEAST favorite part about college basketball was.

Beasley said, "When the refs make bad calls on the road."

Rose responded, "Losing."

Dudes just got that eye of the tiger, and I love it!

Rose is probably one of the most honest superstars in the league/ever. Part of it must be attributed to how humble of a man he is. Part of it is that he grew up in Chicago and is playing for his hometown.

I used to think that anyone who said they 'deserve' something are just full of themselves. Rose wanted to be the ROTY, he worked for it and got it. Same thing with becoming an All-Star last year. This year, he said the infamous phrase, 'Why cant I be MVP?'

This is where he sets himself above most other players. Sure, everyone wants to be an MVP. But Rose backs up his words. There was a thread on another forum about Rose's phrase back in September. Everyone mocked him, he surely didnt have the goods to bring home the prize. Rose's self-confidence and will to succeed is what is so great about him. He has the Kobe-like desire (minus the rapist part). He's quiet, soft-spoken...but we all know that, behind that emotionless face, there's a fire.

If the Bulls don't make it to the Finals Derrick Rose has no claim to the MVP.

Tell me which player in the NBA has been responsible for the most of his respective teams wins out of every player on every team in the league.

PS - "MVP" is a regular season award, and it is voted upon just after the regular season ends, and is usually handed out in the Conference Finals.

Yeah, I tried to touch on his winning demeanor.

I personally adore his modesty. But I don't really think that (in itself) qualifies him as an "exciting" player. But he's a great guy and his hardwork has made him into the exciting player that we see today.

Really? Based on what? You don't think Lebron was MVP the last few years? What about Nash? I can go on and on...
What side are you on on this issue hou? One minute you're defending lebron's legitimacy over Rose and now you're defending Rose's.

I'm confused man. Who do you think should win it?

If I really had to order...

1. Rose - CHI
2. James - MIA
2. Paul - NOH (can't decide)
4. Nowitzki - DAL
5. Howard - ORL

Then for #6-18, it's pretty interchangeable between:
Wade, Durant, Westbrook, Williams, Anthony, Rondo, Garnett, Pierce, Ginobili, Parker, Stoudemire, Bryant, Gasol

Is it safe to say that Rose is the most beloved sports figure here in Chicago in the last 10 years? I think what everyone has said in this thread is pretty much agreed upon in the city. Hard to find flaws in the guys game on the court and off.

I'm gonna say it's 1. lebron 2. rose. I think that's going to change if the bulls end the year with a better record than than miami.
durant lebron dirk and rose all have pretty good chances this year.

Them ending the season with a significantly better record than the last two years, plus the injuries and wins over the top teams should keep him in the discussion and possibly win it for him.

Good article.

I had him as the 3rd best current PG before the season, but he's without a doubt the best PG and arguably the best overall player.

In another thread man. You were talking about lebron being the MVP, in here you're saying Rose. Or did I misinterpret what you said?
