He more than likely did roids. And he is without a doubt at the end of his career going to be the best baseball player ever.

First off you're insane if you think Albert Pujols will ever surpass Ted Williams or Babe Ruth as the greatest player in baseball history. Also seeing as steroids are not an issue for you then I will point out Pujols will never pass Barry Bonds either as a baseball player.

I don't think it was meant in any negative fashion. Just an article speculating on an insane move.

I've seen Packer fans post in the Bears forum creating threads that were much more malicious and no harm came from it. I know Dewey is a mod but the level of scrutiny for his posts seem a little dumbfounded, as we don't hold our moderators to the same precedent as PSD does.

It's hard to be fair by picking out 1-2 of several thousand posts. If you were to take a % look at most people's posts you could probably find one with ribbing in it or something that could be construed as negative or trolling. It's really about perception, if Dewey wasn't "in" with most of the Cub fans here, I don't think he would be posting in this forum scoffing at the idea of Pujols (Even I think that is beyond funny.)

Wait, who was scrutinizing Dews again? CO? Or are you talking about something else? I'm lost again.

As nice as this may sound I have a hard time believing it will ever happen. One guy will not lead the Cubs to the World Series, not even Pujols, and a signing like this will virtually end their ability to sign enough other quality players to compete.

We have 40 million coming off the books. Pujols will not be making 40 million next year.

I agree but by watching this team last year there are a few other upgrades needed. Giving the bulk of the 40 mil to one guy is makes it difficult to replace the guys that make up that 40 mil. coming off the books.

When that guy is Pujols, he can more than make up for the lack of production we get at a position.

We have Fukudome coming off, who can be easily be replaced by Colvin. We have Pena coming off the books(kinda). He would be replaced by Pujols. Then, we have Ramirez coming off the books. While he would be hard to replace, the 4 or more wins difference between Pujols and Pena would more than make up for it. Plus we would have 10 million to go get a new 3B, if Vitters isn't ready, which I don't think he will be. Really the only 3B that evens remotely interests me is Bautista. Alternatively, we could get a 2B and move DeShitt to 3B, where he what he lacks with a his bat, we can make up with his glove.

However, it doesn't really matter, because Pujols is staying a Cardinal.

Another positive.....in another couple years after that we will get rid of another outrageous contract and a worthless left fielder:turrible:

experts pick his starting point to be 30 million if he hits the open market.

What experts are these?

I can't see him getting more than a 10 yr/300 MM deal. Which would be about 30 million a year, or like 25 with a huge ass signing bonus.
