What if a car breaks down, who comes and gets it?
1. Bullshit. Once automated cars are a thing you will be napping or watching tv or playing video games during your commute like everyone else.
2. Human labor based industry has been shrinking for long as **** unless you're willing to work for $0.35 an hour. As time goes on, specialized skills and education will just continue to become more important.
Send your kids to college, people.
Sending your kid to college doesn't mean shit. Some of these kids come out owing 100k plus with a useless degree. You should of said: Send your kids to college and pick a degree that's actually worth something. What many of these colleges do to their students is criminal IMO.
And I agree about human based labor. But don't you think it's going to be a problem when all this tech pushes people out of work? Not everyone is cut out for an advanced degree.
I personally think we will see a huge switch to this in the next 5-10 years. people are going to stop owning cars entirely, and just use a service like uber to get around. It will be overall less expensive than paying gas insurance and maintenance.
.
In the mean time a qualified welder makes 40 an hour.
Nobody wants to get into trades anymore.
Not me. I get car sick if I'm not driving.
I charge 75 per hour and if I need help it's another 50 per hour that I pay him. You don't need a degree to earn big money. In the mean time a qualified welder makes 40 an hour.

It's coming. Probably wont be widely available on 'affordable' cars for at least 20 years.
I doubt driving yourself will go out of fashion for at least a generation.
The real question is, how networked will the vehicles and infrastructure be, how centralized will it be? How much work will be done by the carss computer vs the infrastructure? What happens if someone gains access to one of the systems?
I do agree, it is criminal but whose fault is it really? If someone wants to get a degree in Theater or Art or some other bullshit major because "its what they like to do" then that is on the student. They have to fully know that there very limited jobs in those career fields and the chance at making a living in that field is slim to none.
What I want to know is who gets the tickets? How will police departments survive with a massive drop in precious traffic violation revenue?
I agree, but not all 18,19 year old kids are smart enough to know what a HUGE life decision they are making. Some are, but many are not.
I give them no pity. I can only laugh when I see people I went to college with complaining about their student debt or working some low level job. I graduated with 50k in student loans, got in with a solid company and have worked my way through the corporate ladder to a senior level position. Paid off over 30k in 2.5 years. The only person who can improve your situation is yourself. **** 'em.
