The overall point remains, though. It's not even David Backes the player/person that I despise. It's everything he stands for. Ergo, I despise him as well because he is the physical embodiment of everything that's obnoxious about St. Louis' fan base and fans elsewhere with similar feelings.

When it comes to the playoffs, especially after Olympic hockey, most of these guys have multiple issues piled up. Look at the Hawks last year with several tough injured players performing.
This is part of why i'm completely against the archaic eye for an eye type punishment system of suspending a guy out as long as the injured guy is out that you'll see some fans express desire for.

Like I said, I don't hate David Backes. I hate what he stands for. If he signed in Chicago, he wouldn't be propped up by the media and the fan base as some archaic notion of what "toughness" is.
