My favorite teams
Yes they did, but if it's going to take THAT long to surround him with enough talent for him to take the Bears to the playoffs then he's not the QB. You're talking about having a nearly ideal roster of talent around him to make the playoffs in another three seasons. That's pretty damn bad. It's a big ask to have a GM hit on all of those draft picks to surround him with enough talent to get to the playoffs. The Bengals won one game, drafted Burrow Higgins and Chase and with the rest of the scrubs he carried them to the Super Bowl in year two. You're talking about a four year rebuild to get to respectability that's a reflection of Fields whether you want to believe it or not.
There are great QBs out there that can carry a pile of scrubs to the playoffs every year. I know Bears fans have only seen really bad QBs year over year over year. But GREAT QBs can put a team on their back and get to 10 wins. And then are the just-a-guy type of QBs who need an ideal roster to get to the playoffs.
You think Christian Watson is getting to seven TD receptions this year with Jimmy G Baker Mayfield Kirk Cousins etc as the QB in Green Bay?
Cool. Glad we have established that they've wasted the last two years of surrounding Fields with any help.
2023 is setting up to be a shit year because the free agency class is garbage and the draft is garbage.
The above is what you posted in this thread about the 2023 class. So we have established that 2021 the Bears didn't get Fields any help. Likewise, you've agreed that in 2022 they didn't get him any help either. Now, for 2023, you've pre-determined that he's not getting any help and I said my expectation was for a top 5 to 10 pick next year. We pretty much agree not to expect much next season. So let's move on to what I said about 2024's expectation.
3. Do I think the Bears will be competing for a Super Bowl next year? No. I've been consistent on saying I want a top 5 pick in 2022. A top 5 to 10 pick in 2023. A top 15-20 pick in 2024 and a legitimate playoff contender in 2025.
14 teams make the playoffs out of 32 teams. A top 15-20 pick in 2024 would mean they are a borderline playoff team to potentially being in the playoffs. A borderline playoff team is probably not winning the Super Bowl but stranger things have happened.
So despite your hatred of Fields, you've agreed to basically the same timeline and expectations as me with the only difference being I believe Fields is a legitimate NFL QB and you don't. Hilarious.
