Im not a huge batman video game fan...will one of you post a personal review?
Let me give you a more solid review of the game. This is all my opinions...
I'm a bit disappointed in Batman.
First of all, when you level, it doesn't really matter, just get what is fun. I say that, because the game is ridiculously easy. I'm not sure why this is considered the best melee fighter ever. Just bash X and a direction, with the occasional counter when someone is about to hit you. It's insanely easy. (Uh oh, some of the "tougher" bad guys you have to hit B or A before you hit X a bunch of times! )
Secondly, I already beat the game. Yes, I'm only 45% done with the game at the main menu, but the main storyline and a good portion of the side missions are already completed. This was not the "30 hour main quest - 50 hour entire game" type of deal that I read about in some of the reviews. While the storyline was cool and all of the little secondary shit, like background stories, press stories and art, was fun to read as a comic book dork, this game was just a clone of the first one.
Third, I thought the map/world was supposed to be huge when compared to the first one? That doesn't seem like the case to me. The world is the map you see when you first load the game. That's it. It's the same fucking size as the first one.
I was expecting more, especially after I read the reviews. This is exactly the same game as the first one (which is cool, don't get me wrong) but with all of the insanely high reviews, you'd think that they would have improved on the game. I had heard it compared to the Terminator series, where Terminator 1 was a solid move and T2 was just a mind-blowing movie. IMO, I'd switch it. Batman 1 was the mind-blowing experience, introducing me to all of these crazy gadgets and new way of looking at Batman's world, where Batman 2 was just re-doing the last game with a few more toys and a different story. The only good thing is that I can trade this in today at Gamestop for some big $$$$ so that I can buy Uncharted 3 on the cheap.
If I had to score this game on a 10 point scale, I'd give it a 7.
