Disappointment of the year, for me.

Dark Souls, the Witcher 2, and Portal 2 are my top 3 current candidates for GotY. I believe Skyrim will also be a candidate.

How about yourself?

Portal 2 and the Witcher 2 for sure are up there in my top 3. Haven't taken the plunge into Dark Souls yet, might not play it in 2011, same with Uncharted 3. inFamous 2 was pretty good but not really GOTY worthy. I'd give my biggest disappointment to LA Noire.

I'm banking on Skyrim for GOTY though. I just hope I don't set myself up for disappointment by buying into all the hype.

Let me give you a more solid review of the game. This is all my opinions...

I'm a bit disappointed in Batman.

First of all, when you level, it doesn't really matter, just get what is fun. I say that, because the game is ridiculously easy. I'm not sure why this is considered the best melee fighter ever. Just bash X and a direction, with the occasional counter when someone is about to hit you. It's insanely easy. (Uh oh, some of the "tougher" bad guys you have to hit B or A before you hit X a bunch of times! )

Secondly, I already beat the game. Yes, I'm only 45% done with the game at the main menu, but the main storyline and a good portion of the side missions are already completed. This was not the "30 hour main quest - 50 hour entire game" type of deal that I read about in some of the reviews. While the storyline was cool and all of the little secondary shit, like background stories, press stories and art, was fun to read as a comic book dork, this game was just a clone of the first one.

Third, I thought the map/world was supposed to be huge when compared to the first one? That doesn't seem like the case to me. The world is the map you see when you first load the game. That's it. It's the same fucking size as the first one.

I was expecting more, especially after I read the reviews. This is exactly the same game as the first one (which is cool, don't get me wrong) but with all of the insanely high reviews, you'd think that they would have improved on the game. I had heard it compared to the Terminator series, where Terminator 1 was a solid move and T2 was just a mind-blowing movie. IMO, I'd switch it. Batman 1 was the mind-blowing experience, introducing me to all of these crazy gadgets and new way of looking at Batman's world, where Batman 2 was just re-doing the last game with a few more toys and a different story. The only good thing is that I can trade this in today at Gamestop for some big $$$$ so that I can buy Uncharted 3 on the cheap.

If I had to score this game on a 10 point scale, I'd give it a 7.

And I was thinking about buying this now too, looks like its more worth $30 to $40 then I guess lol. I have so many games to beat like Mass Effect 1,Fight Night Round 4 (bought it for like $10 new at Best Buy and have yet to play it),Gears Of War 2 and 3,Uncharted 2,and Borderlands. But the only game I really actually want to play right now is Skyrim.

You must put this towards the top of your play list. That and Mass Effect should be 1 and 1a. But yeah, once Skyrim comes out, that's the only game that'll be in my PS3 for about 4 months.

Like it seems like I don't have that excitement towards games as much anymore, idk why. But Skyrim,Star Wars The Old Republic, and Diablo 3 have me really excited. And I just bought Fallout 3. Borderlands and Uncharted will probably be my top 2.

Uncharted 3 will be my GOTY probably.

I've been meaning to play Arkham Asylum for a while. Maybe I'll give that a rent and then play Arkham City afterwards. They both look pretty fun.

Great game but far too short, was really disappointed at the length, Arkham Asylum felt much longer.

Deus Ex is my game of the year so far, with Portal 2 in second and Batman in third, haven't played Witcher or Dark Souls yet.

On the bright side atleast this year is already wayyyy better than last year. 2010 was literally Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption and NOTHING ELSE

Better than last year so far, but there were a LOT of good games last year besides those two.

Heavy Rain
Assassins Creed: Brotherhood
Metroid: Other M
Fallout: New Vegas
StarCraft II
Singularity
Transformers: War for Cybertron
Limbo
Bayonetta

and many more

So looking at posts I should probably just rent this game instead of buying it? I'm a huge Batman fan but If I can just rent it now and beat it then buy it later down the road cheaper, I might go that route.
