I was at a game once it was so cold my beer turned into a slushy. Idk what’s so appealing about that for those stuck in the past
I was at the coldest game ever. it was pretty fucking brutal, but the Bears beat the Packers that go around so it was worth it until I had boogeritis a couple days later.

Bummer.. I hope they build a stadium that amplifies the crowd noise.
At least, they won't go for the silly SoFi open domed stadium and the 100 degrees on the field during a game in September (today in LA) or a negative 10 degrees in winter (if it were built in Chicago) design.

Nobody has told yet to explain how this family with no history of successfully running a business that isn't part of the USA's greatest business monopoly is going to pay for this thing.

In case it helps, here's a rundown of how NFL teams have done it recently. Definitely do-able for the Bears:

I just don't see any public money coming through, let alone this ~quarter billion precedent that seems to be set by these examples, when we are on the eve of the worst global economic downturn since 2008. The city is going to use all the leverage it has with the state and county to prevent any of their money from financing it, so its all going to come down on Arlington Heights to come up with hundreds of millions of dollars. I just don't think the local enthusiasm there seems high enough for people to absorb that, and raising hotel taxes or whatever is just going to drive business to other another nondescript distant suburb. Is there anything in Arlington Heights that you can't find in Palatine?

The McCaskeys have basically no money of their own. I'm not sure they even can afford breaking the lease at Soldier Field without selling assets.

Its just too much of a political fight against an entity as dominating as the City of Chicago. That's what this will come down to and its why its going to very quickly unravel once this economic shitstorm really arrives.

Oh, and now they're fighting the Koch brothers too apparently. Didn't even know that.

Actual, verifiable equity. It's amazing what others with fake equity have been able to do so should be easy for the McCaskeys as sole owners of the Bear.

HeHateMe is intent on treating me with continued hostility despite my well-voiced admiration for how thoroughly he walks all over *certain posters*. Very sad!

I can't speak for others, but I'd prefer you stay on topic and not try to derail things with your @HeHateMe beef. You can either send a private message to him, or to the mods. Please don't muck up these works.

they aren’t sole owners though. Their partner is filthy rich
Filthy rich enough to plop down the five billion that this is going to cost? The McCaskey's have no idea how to pull something of this scale off. Shit, they need Ernie Accorsi to come in and tell them what GM they need to hire to run their football team. They are going to get bent over by every contractor and union in the Chicago area, there is zero chance they keep the costs on this thing under control. We are talking about people who's sole qualification for ownership of this franchise is the fact they are George Halas' great grandkids.

Rich enough to get the credit line plus the fact it’s the bears yes they can get it done. They will get a blank check.

Who's giving them the blank check? Arlington Heights? Yeah that'll cost an average of about $4,000 per resident.

This has all the tell-tale signs of mega project that falls flat on its face. They also could not possibly pick worse timing to try and do it.
