Great stuff, as always, Windy.

I'm curious, when you watch these games a second time, are you just watching network coverage or do you get the All-22s? Do you watch it again to isolate certain players, or to soak it all up at once? For example, "I'm going to watch these offensive snaps and just focus on Cutler (or Bennett or Leno." or "Okay, watching the defense, going to focus on DL and see who looks good." Just wondering what your process is. I know most of us tend to watch the QB at all times (or whoever has the ball) just following the camera.

Thanks.

I just wantch the TV copy.

I will watch each play 2-3 times to focus in different players. Some of it is just a feel.

I usually keep track of bad plays for the OL, hits, actual pressures, run wiffs.

We're lucky to have you Ommie. :yep:

I find he keeps everyone honest.

Sorta like the way a crazy street bum refuses to discriminate anyone from their crazy street bum talk.

I'm starting to feel like this D could be top 5 with one good off-season. That's a good feeling. Signing a #1 CB and drafting Jaylon Smith might go a long way. I haven't felt good about the general direction of the team in a long time but it feels like the arrow is pointing up

I asked one of their key graders what constitutes a pressure and he said it was based on how close a player gets to the QB.

I do not agree that Young physically can't play the OLB position.

But he is not going to be great in coverage so he much provide the pass rush required to off set the weakness.

You can have OLBs who are not coverage guys, but they need to bring a rush every time.

Agree that Young flashes rushing the QB from OLB. I like him kind of a lot as a pass rush specialist.

so basically what you are saying is......Pace, Fox, Fangio, and Gase > Emery, Trestman, Kromer, and Tucker...

Which I have an issue with, you can be in control of a block and be close to the QB.

If it does not affect the throw or force unneccassey movement from the QB it is not a pressure.

There were reps where both Long and Leno gave up ground, but were in total control of the defender and Cutler simply took 2 steps up and delivered, that has to be a good rep.

If you want to feel good imagine this off season: corner first round pick, Eric Berry S and Bruce Irvin OLB from FA.

Not sure if this is feasible but the overall cap is pretty big these days.

I know right? Throw in a 2nd rd ILB and give the OL some attention and you just might have a contender.

Willie Young looks out of place at outside linebacker. I wouldn't be surprised if he's traded. I don't think he'll be traded this year though with all the injuries piling up.

EDIT: He's a 4-3 defensive end, he doesn't have the build to be an inside linebacker.

Well he is out of place at OLB.

Great write up Windy per usual.

Something to think about. When Bushrod comes back, move Leno over to RT and put Long back at RG.

NO. Absolutely not. K.Long stays at Tackle and eventually makes the move to LT. Leno has shown that he's not as good on the right side of the line as he is on the left side.

IMO after drafting a corner in the 1st round then you get an RT in the 2nd round and shift Kyle over to LT. Building a top notch oline is more important than upgrading at ILB.

Can you imagine the furor on this board if the Bears don't pick a QB in the first?

I believe it was that Willie Shakespeare guy who wrote," Posters write stuff full of sound and fury signifying nothing." I might be a little off on the exact quote.
