As if our TE position wasn't already weak behind him. Trade him and it'll be horrendous.

I'm thinking around a 3rd rd pick. Bennett was not happy with his contract last season (when he was joking or not so joking with Emery).

Considering the Bears didn't invest in the position in FA and this is a brutal draft class for TE the position could look really ugly if they trade him.

I will say this not knowing for sure what this offense will look like this season.

If the Bears are going to be a power running/ball control type offensive team, they don't necessarily need a top receiving TE. It isn't a position you would want to tie up a bunch of money and create salary cap issues moving forward. I like Bennett and enjoy the type of player he is, but depending on the type of offense you run, he might be a luxury and not a need.

Saying that, I would be shocked if the Bears traded him, since there isn't another TE option on this team.

Yep, I think anybody that isn't fully on board with the plan the Bears will launch if they get back the value they want at this point. To be honest I'm fine with that. This is a 2-3 year process to turn around at least.

Ya I mean I like Marty, and he's been a pretty darn good player for us....but at the same time.....I am not sure I'd be that upset if it happend, depending on the compensation obvioulsly.
