Per ESPN:

Patriots waive CB Alfonzo Dennard
8m - NFL Alfonzo Dennard +1 more

ESPN.com news services

The New England Patriots have decided to waive cornerback Alfonzo Dennard, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Field Yates.

Dennard was a 2012 seventh-round pick who had been a starter at times for the Patriots. He appeared in 29 regular-season games over the past three seasons, producing five interceptions and 90 tackles. He also played four playoff games and added two more interceptions.

In 2014, Dennard slid down the depth chart before being placed on season-ending injured reserve in December before New England's regular-season finale.

The NFL Network first reported the news of Dennard's release.

He was in Belicheat's "Dog House" this past year and never emerged. The Pats are short on CBs which indicates just how deep in this Dog House Dennard was.

Maybe this is where we Trade for Brockers and Andrew Whitworth from the Bengals as he lost his starting job on Saturday.

Who exactly did he lose his starting job to? Cedric Ogbuehi, who possibly starts the season on PUP? Come on now. Whitworth is one of the league's very best blindside protectors. They are going to start him for the last year of his contract, and then hope that either Ogbuehi or Fisher is ready to play LT next year.

I know. Many players are. Doesn't mean they'll be moved.

Bengals is a team that believes they have a roster good enough to compete right now. Getting rid of one of the league's best LT's wouldn't make much sense. Maybe if they had a clear-cut replacement ready, but they don't. Ogbuehi is very raw and injured on top of that, and Jake Fisher is quite simply not ready to be a LT from day one.

Giving Jeffrey a new contract makes the most sense to me, but who knows what is up their sleeve.

Anyone else out there worth about five million in 2015?

I'm a little concerned about Jeffrey. He kinda disappeared last year when we needed him most. Maybe this was just the entire team tanking under Trestman.

Looking back...him disappearing late in the season was what we needed most. Does the story play out the same if Jeffrey had a monster game at home against a very good Lion defense?

I have faith the kid will step up and the combo of Jeffrey/White will be the bane of secondaries for years to come and will bring out the best in each other.

All the same...I like Windy's idea of waiting on that contract till November.

Well we have K.White to be our #1 WR now cause Alshon is a #2 WR.

You're all wrong. It's clear why we need the cap space- we still have to trade for Mariota

2015: $6.969 million

^Mo Wilkerson's salary

Now I'm not sayin...ah fuggit I am saying. Pace should trade for this beast, and I'm sure the Jets would anticipate the Bears sucking this yr, so they'd gladly take our '16 1st rndr.

We just drafted E.Goldman to play the NT spot so why would we give away our 2016 1st and then some for Wilk??
