well if he could of averaged more then 3.5 ypc that game maybe they dont get knocked out..
They have a role for running backs that can't catch. LeGarrette Blount and Josh Adams have been those guys for them. Blount had 170 or so carries and I think 8 targets in 2017. That's Howard's role there. Nagy falls more info Reid's style of having backs who can run and catch. Simply put, they have different philosophies despite speaking the same "language".
Yikes. So trading Howard now is a way of Pace saying he made a mistake in not keeping him for this coming season? My feeling is this...
1) Trading Howard for a 6th rd pick in 2020 was his lowest possible value to the team...
therefore it was a wrong/bad move among a team making alot of good moves because...
A: Howard could have been identified as a poor and limiting fit to Nagy's offense before the 2018-19 season, and traded at his high point in terms of draft value
B: Howard could have been kept for one more season at little to no cost while benifiting the bears with 15 more months to solve position.
I think its a bit arragont to think you can find an NFL running back and just plug them in without a bit of a search. Howard at least provided a workhorse answer that commanded respect in this league.
I think Pace would admit the error here. Trading him for a 6th in 2020 is admitting your error here. It is what it is. I think Nagy wants to move on so its something from nothing, or addition by subtraction...but make no mistake finding what you want at running back is often harder than it looks. Trading away a young NFL caliber running back is serious.
Good luck to us.
Exactly, he has no idea how to call a 1983 offense, how are Bears fans ever going to understand what the hell is going on.Nagy is limited as a play caller, so we had to get rid of a good player.
You say that like anyone gives a fuck.So many posters to place on ignore...
Where's that Cutler "Don't Care" meme when i need it...You say that like anyone gives a fuck.
Recent 6th round assets have netted the following:
Kylie Fitt
Khari Lee
DHC
Tayo Fabuluje
David Fales
Pat O’Donnell
Cornelius Washington
Isaiah Frey
Yippee!!!
Part of me feels there has to be more to this, a 6th/5th round pick in 2020 is the equivalent to a plain hot dog. In the right system he has a lot of value. Like J-How or not, he was definitely worth more than that. I felt Pace would have traded him, but thought it would have been for a pick in this years draft in the 4th or 5th round range..
Good coaches find a way to use good players. That is why guys like Bellichek and Pederson win Super Bowls.
Something is better than nothing. I am not sure why this is so difficult to understand?
The Bears must really like Davis.....It would be stupid to count on a player you have not even drafted yet. So Davis and Cohen will share time. I am surprised they didn't make a bigger play for Hunt. I can't pass judgment on this yet as we have no idea how this will play out. But they better get more production in the running game and RB passing out of the backfield game.
And anyone one making some judgement on whether Pace didn't get as much as he could for Howard is talking out of their ass based on zero known facts...

Why are you so fixated on this explosive thing? Not every successful RB is explosive. Furthermore, I don’t think an explosive RB is the engine to the offense like you are making it sound. What system is that? He has 0 explosive ability and doesn’t catch well or run routes.
Not many teams in 2019 are okay with that being a primary back. My guess is his role will be severely reduced in Philly to reflect his lack of ability in those areas.
