So when I look back and see the Wentz trade go through and hear the Bears were never at the table I think of Eagles GM Howie Roseman and my gut reaction is:
This was a goddamn GM masterpiece. He created a a media and fan frenzy for a team that wasn't even in the bidding just in an attempt to create leverage against another team.
On the surface the Stafford trade seems like a lot more, but when you strip out the Goff side it's a 2022 first and a 2021 third. If Wentz plays in 75% of the snaps or plays in 70% and they make the playoffs it's a 2022 first and a 2021 third. That happened after being laughed at for wanting a 'Stafford type deal'.
Given Pave's track record of not letting any leaks out you had to assume it was coming from the eaglesSo when I look back and see the Wentz trade go through and hear the Bears were never at the table I think of Eagles GM Howie Roseman and my gut reaction is:

They got a 2nd and a 3rd that will probably be a 1st and a 3rd. We are also hearing that it was really only the Colts that were in this.No one knows if they got more than what they wanted.....at the end of the day what the Colts offered may have been the original offer and the Eagles were told to pound sand for anything else....
I would hardly classify this as a GM masterpiece.

On the flip side the Stafford deal was a 1st and a 3rd with another first rounder to take on the Goff contract. Those negotiations happened with multiple teams, took a few days and was done.
Roseman was burning the midnight oil for many days on this one. I fully agree we don't know where the negotiations started, but we know where they ended. Overall I look at the Stafford and Wentz deals as very comparable.
So are we now mad at Pace for never making the offer? If we are, is our anger more than if he actually did make an offer?
Brady 2.0.Good news. Glad Pace didn't piss away more draft picks. The next step is not over drafting a QB because the top 4 are off the board. Do not draft Mac Jones.
