The advantage is that they'll be able to sell for a lot more $$
They'd also need to wait an additional 3 to 4 years to sell. Will the grand kids wait? And as far as legacy, i.e. stadium name, there are ways to ensure that in any deal.

I hope they are dumb enough to sell early, but I highly doubt it.

Why does a GM need to report to a football person? Many NFL organizations have the GM as the top football person...
Because the Bears have a failed model with the current ownership and Sweaty Teddy in command. There is not a fiber of football acumen between the bunch. So you can have a guy over his head like Ryan Pace tank the franchise for 7 years with no real checks and balances and by the time ownership realizes it's not working the team is fucked. Rinse and repeat.

Ok, then answer me this - this new "Football Tsar" - who hires him? Who does he report to?

To me, it just sounds like one more layer of beaurocracy for the sake of it.

Obviously ownership hires him. What's so bad about having someone experienced around to have a young GM bounce ideas off of or collaborate with?

So the ownership you don't trust to hire a GM with absolute football authority, you DO trust to hire a head of football with absolute football authority?

I never used the term absolute, I said collaborate. Again, when there is no football intelligence in the building I see the need for a second set of eyes. I don't understand why a Bears fan who has endured miserable season after season would not comprehend the need for hierarchical change in this franchise.

You know what I am getting at. Head of Football is just another layer of beauracracy.
