I mean, none of this should be surprising. As soon as Eberflus was fired Ben probably knew the job was his to lose.

Beyond that, he already knew he was going to get a head coaching job even if it wasn't the Bears. He could have had one last year but decided to wait one more year. It'd be dumb for him to have not started putting feelers out there so he could hit the ground running once he did take a job. That doesn't mean he didn't or couldn't have given the Lions his best effort in the meantime. I know if I was him I would have wanted to go out by winning a superbowl rather than a first-round upset.

Johnson bailed last year. Just waited for Caleb.

I don't get why Lions fans are so jacked up about this. If you're given a chance to make 10 x more money in your profession and achieve a professional goal (in Ben's case becoming a head coach) 100/100 people are jumping at that. This is how the NFL has worked for a long time.

LoLions fans haven't had anything to get worked up about since Greg Landry came out of retirement to beat them

lions have gotten bears and packers fans worked up 3 out of the last 4 times they played, we don't live in the past, so do yourself a favor and hop in too the present

Yeah, it's odd that Lions fans are so worked up about losing an OC.

It's like they want to be a team's rival so badly...but they also know they still haven't won anything of note.

I agree, all fan bases have a number of morons who think coordinators should how loyalty above promotion which is stupid, which by the way, the bears fan base is no different

after finishin 5 and 10 games behind the lions the last 2 years I don't see the bears worthy of being a rival for the lions, in fact, I consider both the Packers and Vikings more worthy of that than the bears, try winning 10 plus games some time in the next decade and maybe I'll change my mind

You don’t live in the past because there is literally nothing there. Making the playoffs two years in a row is equivalent to winning the Super Bowl for Lions fans.
