So yeah - finally got a new smart phone -- now I need to know from my brethren, what are the best free apps? The barcode scanner thing? words w/ friends? what the hell is a tapatalk?

tapatalk isnt free but its cheap. it makes the forum so much easier to use.

Music wise there's stuff like spotify and pandora that have free versions, though they're really only useful if you have a data plan that's unlimited unless you plan to use them solely in areas with wifi. Perhaps there are better ones for that out there...those are just what I have.
I was also able to get Plants vs Zombies for free, but idk if it's still free (normally it's not I think I caught it on a special or something).
People seem to like things like snapchat and instagram, so if you're into pictures, go for that.

The Youversion Bible app is awesome. I take notes during the sermon and you can search topics. Scoremobile is a good app too.

I have an app called Job Search cause I'm constantly looking for a new job. It's good if you are looking for work. Has jobs posted from a ton of different places and some you can apply for right on your phone.
I also have one called Trulia for real estate. We're looking for land to buy. It has stuff that's listed all over.

I have the Note II and it's awesome. I had the Galaxy S Mesmerize which was terrible. Got the Note II for $400 used. I heard the S3 is really good too.

I talked to a handful of people who switched from Apple to Samsung in the past -- and every one of them said they preferred the Samsung Galaxy SII to the iPhone4.... :shrug:

I had a smart phone (iPhone 3G) for awhile through work, man it was cool at first and then the thing became a total life suck. You barely pay attention to what's going on around you with one of those. You get bored for like 3 seconds and it's off to the smart phone.
I'm not knocking people that have them or anything, because everyone does, just sharing my experience. I now have a dumb phone again and pay half the price for my cell phone bill (at least until it's cheaper to have a dumb phone over a smart phone...).
It's crazy to think so many people pay over $100 a month for a phone.
