The Blackhawks All-Draft Team

Courtesy of blackhawks.nhl.com... some picks may surprise you. Sure as hell shocked me, guess our drafting really sucked back in the day. No Ken Yaremchuk unfortunately.

I would have picked Calder over Moreau, Ruutu deserved some consideration as well.

I think Daze was a good pick considering how well he performed in the "clutch and grab era" of the NHL. Plus he was a 3rd round pick.

Eddie is only on that list because of his current affiliation with the team.

I don't get how Crawford's on there at all. Love his play last year but really, one year and he's on that list. Hasek clearly better, but I guess they're only considering contributions with the Hawks.

List of all time 'Hawks Picks: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/teams/dr00005218.html

Hammer? There has to be another D-Man somewhere that has turned out to be a better pick....including some that work for or worked for the team after their playing days,

Looking back through the 'Hawks draft history it is amazing how poor they have drafted in that position, but I agree Hasek over Crawford at this time regardless of the limited time Hasek was here. And if the limited time is an issue then Waite (yeah yeah I know).

I just shake my head at this and womder if they did any actual research before making these picks.

What about Bob Murray at D? Guy played over 1K games in his career, with over 500 career points.

I give up, what a worthless piece... Is this just being used to shove the names of current players next to all-time greats? All it does to me is make me sad that they haven't drafted better players overall in the long run. Hammer, Crawford, hell any of them currently on the team, while great, should not be considered the greatest of all time for anything yet.

Steve Larmer....120th overall.

Always makes me happy.

And hey..Hammer at 108 was a good pick. So he didn't play as well as we know he could have last year...he isn't the only guy. Hammer hasn't hit his peak yet..not even close. At 108 in a draft I think Hammer was a great pick.

But to be considered one of the all time best draft picks????????

What other goaltender would they pick? They've never had a successful one drafted. Hasek played under 30 games for the Blackhawks. Meanwhile his other competition lies in Jimmy Waite, Michael Leighton, Craig Anderson, and Adam Munro, the only other Hawk draft picks that every played a game for the Hawks. The rest never had a minute in the crease.

For Hjalmarsson, I can understand why he shouldn't be included, especially with players such as Bob Murray, Dave Manson, and even Trent Yawney left off the list.

Olczyk deserves to be there, who else are you going to pick? Krivokrasov? Vorobiev? Mulvey? Paterson? Ludzik? Noonan? Yeah right.

Daze is listed as a left wing in this article but as a left handed shot, played most of his time on the right side. Either way, come playoff time I'd take a health Darryl Sutter over Daze.

No argueing with you are all, just curious as to what position he was drafted, do you know?

Also, I think like has been said is not necessarily who is or is not on the list as much as how pathetic does this organization have to be to have some of those people as their ALL TIME GREAT DRAFT PICKS.

I do agree about Crawford though, kinda by default because I can't think of other goalies drafted?

In my opinion no member of the current roster should be on that list. Sure we won a cup (so in that sense they were the best draft picks we could have at that time), whos to say any one of them might shit the bed and jockey between the 4th line and the AHL for the remainder of their career following this year ( I highly doubt it, but you never know).

I think to be on that list you need to be retired or in the twilight of your career.

Also, I like how crawford is the only goalie to get a nod. You especially should not be putting up goalies that essentially just finished their rookie season in this day and age. Its all to often in recent memories goalies have stellar seasons then suck absolute ass.

Maybe there needs to be a thread (if there hasnt been in the past)...of the best Hawks draft year...meaning how many good players that they drafted in one single class?

I think the worse may be...2000

1st - Vorobiev, Yakubov (110gms combined)

2nd - Nordqvist (3gms)

3rd - Radulov (43gms)

4th - Balan,Malmivaara (0gms)

5th - Bakunov (0gms)

6th - Ayers, Martin (0gms)

7th - Loya, Luchkin (0gms)

8th - Berkhoel (0gms)

9th - Flache, Von Arx (19gms), Ramholt

Holy Shit...what a draft. 15 players selected...
