He used to be a regular on Steve & Gary way back when. When he talks he sounds like the burned out hippy, but is definitely smarter than he sounds.

QFT!

He sounds like Tommy Chong, but you can tell he's a sharp dude.

The funny thing is that Tammie is not banking her whole campaign on her service, there is actual substance to her message. Most of her ads and speeches don't mention or even focus on it. Just is the obvious elephant in the room that is seen. Joe is just trying to find an angle since he is behind.

I know Tammie personally and served with her for virtually her entire military career up to her time in Iraq (had I gone, I know I would have been on that flight). What she should be pushing is her Rotary International work, which is far more prominent and relevant.

The other funny thing is that she is more Republican than Joe, but did not want to be part of that party.

Umm... I know you know her and I'll try not to be personal here, but here entire campaign was built on her military service. Not just her amputee, but her service and what she did while in service. It's how she defines herself. Have you looked at her bio page on her website?
[background=transparent]In 2003, Tammy Duckworth was working on a project for Rotary International to provide wheelchairs for the disabled in developing countries including Iraq. As a Captain in the National Guard, she was mobilized for Operation Iraqi Freedom and deployed in 2004.[/background][background=transparent]

As a Black Hawk helicopter pilot, she was one of the first women to fly combat missions in Iraq until November 12th, 2004 when her helicopter was hit by an RPG. Tammy lost both legs and part of the use of her right arm in the explosion, and was awarded the Purple Heart for her combat injuries.[/background]

[background=transparent]

During her recovery at Walter Reed, Tammy was one of the highest-ranking amputees and became an advocate for her fellow soldiers. Her leadership was recognized when she was asked to testify before Congress and recruited to run for the House of Representatives. After losing a close race, Tammy continued to serve as a Major in the National Guard and became Director of Illinois' Department of Veterans' Affairs. There, she implemented many first in the nation programs to address Post Traumatic Stress, improve traumatic brain injury screening and reduce homelessness among Vets.[/background]

[background=transparent]

In 2009, Tammy was tapped by President Obama to be Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs where she sought to improve the standard of care for Vets. She oversaw VA's effort to end Veteran homelessness and lead initiatives for female Vets and increased accessibility and accountability with the new Office of Online Communications.[/background]

[background=transparent]

Military service is a Duckworth tradition - a family member has served during every period of conflict since the Revolution. Tammy followed suit by joining the Reserves in graduate school and chose to fly helicopters because it was one of the few combat jobs open to women.[/background]

[background=transparent]Tammy is a graduate of the University of Hawaii and received a Masters of Arts in International Affairs from the George Washington University. She and her husband Bryan, an Army Major, live in Hoffman Estates where their home was rebuilt for wheelchair access in 2005 by her fellow Soldiers and friends. Despite her injuries, she declined a military medical retirement and continues to drill as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Illinois Army National Guard.[/background]
And then there is the

Why I'm running

[background=transparent]Many candidates and office holders say the right things on the issues, but too many fail to be champions when they are needed most. When I hear from people who are struggling to put food on the table, I understand because I’ve been there.[/background][background=transparent]

My father was a Veteran who put himself through college on the GI Bill and he had a good job. But then the bottom fell out and at 55 my dad was unemployed. My entire family pitched in - my mom took in sewing and I got a minimum wage job after school. Hard work, food stamps, and charity is how we paid the bills and rebuilt our lives. These experiences have taught me that I will work to find practical solutions.[/background]

[background=transparent]

One of the first things I did in this race was release a jobs plan that outlines priorities for investment in infrastructure, education, and job training. I believe that we need to repeal the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest 2%, crack down on big corporations who avoid paying taxes, and speak out against those who would go to war for the wrong reasons. We need to create jobs, reform our tax code, and make sure that everyone plays by the same set of rules.[/background]

[background=transparent]I could have died when my helicopter was shot down in Iraq. Now, I believe that this time in my life is a second chance for me, a “bonus time”. This means that I am free to stand up for what I believe in and speak out for what I think is right. I can speak with a unique voice on issues such as cutting defense spending and fighting waste and inefficiency at the Department of Defense.[/background]

I don't know what commercials you were watching but everything I've ever heard from here is about her service or veterans. I'm not saying she is a bad person, or even not the best person for the job, but to say that her service and her focus on veterans is not the focus of her campaign is just not true. Her own site mentions her work on Rotary international but doesn't expand on it a bit in her bio. Just goes on to talk about her service. I have no problem with her at all, but I completely understand what Joe Walsh is saying because if I hadn't looked up her info on her site all I would really know about her is that she is the candidate that lost her legs in service. Of course all I would really know about him is that he's the candidate that is bitching about her unfair advantage of losing both of her legs in service to this country. I don't think a lot of her messaging is right to use the way she does, but I think it's just as dumb to be a dickhead about it.

Fair enough, but I am not seeing it in the commercials and I vote in her district.

Her bio should include her service time since that had been the majority of her life since the mid 90's. She has no other politcal positions or time to brag about. With Rotoray International she was far more involved before Iraq, and I am baffled as to why she does not push that part, but that is for her, her campaign manager, and political party to determine...

As far as why she is running, the military thing is only a part of the whole, but not the whole as protrayed by Walsh. And her military stance is for vets (that need assistance). The majority of her point is the same thing that the Dems are pushing. Again, Walsh is just angling to try and drive some voters away from her. Funny too for a republican as they tend to work the military crowd.
