This would be important if the Bears didn't have the number 1 pick and were only picking at 9.

The popular belief among Fields supporters is/was that the Bears would have kept him if they didn't have the chance at getting Williams. In reality, the Bears were probably moving on from Justin no matter when they were picking.

Don't know why the Nix > Fields title is needed except for responses - like mine.
CW is the man now and hopefully lives up to most of the hype in his career.
Speculation if Poles had Bo ranked 4th, 5th or 6th is pretty much a moot point.

Jordan:

“According to Brad Biggs with the Chicago Tribune, the Bears had Nix higher than No. 6 on their draft board:”

Biggs:

I bet if you stacked the top six quarterbacks in the draft class, the Bears’ list would have had Nix higher than No. 6.”

I hope you see the difference here. Having Nix higher than 6 in the QB rankings is not the same as having him higher than 6 on the draft board.

Broncos seem to love him. We will see real quick as they are starting him.
of course they do. they also loved russell wilson enough to mortage the future for him...wouldnt say they are the best judge of QB's right now

only thing quicker than them giving him the starting gig will be when they hook him to bring in Stidham or whatever other scrub they got

I believe that trade was before Sean P was there. Think that matters a bit. I know the GM was the same so yeah that’s an L for him for sure

Nix has looked really good for Denver so far, granted before the games count.

And dumped him as soon as he could. Your comment was about the trade. SP wasn’t there.

I didn’t read the article but if that’s the case, that is real shoddy journalism.

okay....i assume many of the same front office people that were there for the trade are still there

but if you want to annoint the Dnver front office as some sort of QB whisperers...by all means, have at it.

i look forward to reviewing this thread come week 8 or 9 of the season

“Most draft analysts had Williams as the best quarterback in the 2024 draft, followed by Jayden Daniels. Drake Maye was considered the third-best quarterback. After Maye, Michael Penix Jr., J.J. McCarthy, and Nix were considered first-round talent, but their rankings differed on scout’s draft boards.”

i was using that in the same context as the above paragraph. I edited for clarity.

Me:

That’s not me anointing them “QB whispers” or anything. I’m not attacking you. All I’m saying is the dynamics there have changed a bit as he obviously will have some (probably a lot) of input on the QB situation.

ive made my position clear...nix is mid at best and denver will be a bad football team. Sean P dont change any of that IMO

Denver will be bad this year. We will find out in a few years on Nix. He never did much in college to impress me. But I don’t have a strong claim really one way or the other as I never studied him or anything as I knew the Bears were never drafting him.

Again all I was pointing out was SP wasn’t there for the Russ trade. This isn’t me staking a claim on Nix or anything.
